Woot? Woot.com sells a lot of random gadgets and gizmos. Sometimes awesome things, some times there are some stinkers. They generally sell only one product a day, it changes at midnight eastern time.
What is a Woot off? Speed selling woots! Its a good way for woot to liquidate some of its remaining stock of items, and a chance for you to hit f5 until you get the mythical 1 dollar "bag of crap" or something else cool at a flippin sweet price.
I JUST missed the last bag of crap. I had them ordered and it timed out on me. I work until 330 am est so I'm doing crazy f5 on the woot off hoping for something good.

I'm sometimes grumpy and random, feel free to overlook the strange man in the corner.

Most likely it will come right after one of these:
Oh, Woot. You beat us for the most part, but occasionally you bring us flowers, and for that we stay by your side.
The past few Woot-offs have been pretty sad, IMO, although a friend bought one of the off-brand GPS receivers during a non-Woot-off phase and really loves it. The stuff's okay ... when the good stuff actually appears.
It basically works as well as you'd expect, which is not very well at all.
Really? I like mine. I have mine scheduled to clean everyday while i'm at work. It's very nice cos our cat sheds a lot and I'm kinda allergic.
We had to turn off our scheduler as we have door mats next to the doors. Crazy, huh? Seems the roomba can't manage even the most modest of mats, and we tried hard to find one that it would accept.

So its manual now. When we remember to use it.
Does it suck up the corner of the mat and jam itself? I've also had it wedge itself under the couch. In retrospect, I wouldn't buy a scheduler one. It just works well when you're at home and you set it to clean a room and you're there in case the thing gets itself stuck. Setting it down and pressing a button still beats dealing with the cables and pushing a regular vac, IMO.

Yes. But it doesn't do nearly as good a job as a regular vac, and if you pay attention to the instructions of filter replacement the consumables cost is pretty silly.
I don't mind the base station, but despite all attempts to prevent it occasionally it still vacuums up its own power cord.

When you say it doesn't do as good a job as a regular vac, do you mean that it doesn't get in corners cos that I've accepted. Or do you mean that a pass over any area with a roomba will leave more behind than a pass with a regular vac? Since I hate vacuuming, I've rationalized the latter by noting that I vacuum 10x as often with a roomba than I ever did with a regular vac. So quantity over quality?
Also, what kind of carpet do you have? Cos it's not for use on 'high pile' carpets. Whatever that means
And yea, the replacement filters and stuff are expensive.
It seems like each woot off brings the same items every time with prices closer and closer to MSRP. Robosapiens, roombas, clearance flash MP3 players, old tablet PCs, odd, large, impractical items for less than they sell for but still more than they're worth (inflatable projection screen!). All the good stuff always sells out too quickly.
Can be anything. I heard one guy got a 50" plasma in his. That's probably not the norm, but like I said, they can put anything in them.
Yea a guy got a Wii close to launch and Woot overnighted it to him for free.
Usually it is indeed crap, though. The only time I've managed to score a BOC, it was an insulated beer mug, a small digital camcorder-sized case, a few ballpoint pens and what looked like a press kit on CD for prescription medication.
I still use the case for all my DS and PSP stuff, though.

2 minutes on there and I find this.
It's like going yardsailing.
fuck it, that thing is lame.
all business except for the hat.
What i really am hoping for is a cheap decent wireless keyboard and mouse out of this. they usually have a few throughout the wootoff

I guess they only had one.

A couple of Dick Tracy wrist communicators... and now it's a upconvert DVD player with HDMI for $35. Hmmm... I'd get it if it weren't refurbished.
Is 16:9 the aspect that doesn't suck?

Also, fucking Roombas.

Think about how long it's going to last...
I would think everyone else would want to do the same.

Woot actually has an evil plan to take over the world by activating all the Roombas and Robo-sapiens they've sold us over the years.
Evil Woot Robot Army will destroy us all!
