Actually, the smaller you work, the harder it is for you, yourself to notice and correct the flaws.

Thankfully, when I hit the edit button on my screen, the paper did not actually change size on my notepad. :P

All I'm saying is draw big and post a smaller image, rather than the other way around.

Hour-ish speed paint (I'm trying really hard to make my values work well). I would try to finish it, but I'm tired and need rest so I can read HP all day tomorrow. I started with just the beak, and just tried to get it right the whole time, then I added the head. I was listening to Year Zero while I did it.

IMO better than those crappy rocks I did. Might finish...

    whiteraven2sq0.jpg

[edit] Oh, the beak was also a lot bigger and more strangely styled. I realized I had to trim it down from this.

Some warm-up doodles for the PAAC:BT and GV's tourney where I tried to experiment a little with less stiff figures/facial expressions, a bit of marker shading, and hand-drawn word balloons, all of which I'm pretty terrible at.

Okay, need some help with this. I started doing some stuff in Illustrator so my skill wouldn't atrophy from disuse. Now, this isn't anywhere near being finished, but I still need help, specifically on how to make his suit look more "spacesuity".

I want it to look more like a real spacesuit though. And I've added an American flag and a bone to it, though that's not really much.

I see the doodle thread is still brimming with stuff to be jealous of. Iruka, that's so cute. :)

I thought I'd try that whole painting without outlines thing in photoshop. (I cheaped out and covered the other eye after trying forever to not make her look crosseyed :P). This isn't even what I wanted to paint originally.. and it's not finished. Ah well, more than I've managed to paint/draw in a while.

the only thing that really bugs me with that is her right arm (the one on the left) looks weird. i think the part from the shoulder to the elbow needs to be longer and it seems to me that no matter how you do it that elbow should be higher than the other. i know i tried :|

but i too love the spider bunnies and the colors on the last thing you posted were amazing

And you may not like it, Vir, but that's definately a step up from the usual scribble-everywhere shading I've noticed on a lot of your pics.

More environment thumbnail sketches, this time with a decent scan. I don't really like most of these that much; they're a bit too rigid. The tree one in the center I don't mind though, I kind of managed to achieve what I was aiming for there. Oh yeah, and the colours aren't exactly how they appear here, because I had to fiddle with the image in photoshop to make it more visible.

Well that's good to know. Thanks. :) And I just realized that my statement could be misinterpreted...I meant I didn't like my drawing, not that I didn't like defining planes.

Virum: Have you ever tried shading by moving your pencil softly in little circles? Thats how I was taught to do it.

Enough that you just went ahead and made a bunch of nerds on the internet think about you in your underwear, apparently.

Which I would guess is a lot, but I can't be sure.

Nope! Never was suggested that - just to use the side of my pencil which never seems to work that great for me. I'll give it a try.
