The Nintendo Curse...

Man, leaving Nintendo's second party system has done no good for anyone. Have you heard anything from Left Field Studios? Look how many shitty Rare games came out over the past few years? A lot of people are also saying that Lair is just a shittier version of RL with dragons. Now we have this zaniness with Too Human. It makes me wonder, did Nintendo take their fat selling Rare loot and hire witch doctors?

Rare has released a couple of very good games for Microsoft (Viva Pinata and Kameo). I can't deny the Silicon Knights thing though... Wow.

Two weird things of note. Last week both SK and Factor 5 said they were in the planning stages of Wii games.

Also, just in case anyone was wondering what Left Field did after splitting with Nintendo.

2004 - MTX Mototrax (PlayStation 2, Xbox, PC, Mac)
2005 - World Series of Poker (GameCube, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Xbox)
2006 - MTX Mototrax (PlayStation Portable)
2006 - World Series of Poker: Tournament of Champions (PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, PlayStation Portable, Wii)
    2007 - Nitro Bike (Wii)

    Doomed, I say, Doomed.

Big deal. They could be working on either a followup to the most underappreciated N64 title (Excitebike 64) or making a semi shitty basketball game with Kobe Bryant in it.

Rare was doomed. They seemed to have got over it. Now they just make good games that NOBODY buys, which is a much worse fate than making crap like GBTG or the shitty port of Conker. Most of their portable titles were pretty good though.

Kameo is not a good game. Kameo is a clunky game. Kameo is a game whose control scheme drives me up the damn wall. When all four main buttons are devoted to morphing, and any actual attack is relegated to the shoulders, YOU ARE DOING THINGS WRONG.

I never once had an issue with the controls in Kameo. If anything, I thought the gameplay was very tight and the various formed handled well.

How about GBTG where attacks are mapped to the right analog!

Rare just needs to produce more games that will sell well. PD0 sold over a million copies, but that really isn't that great considering that Star Fox Adventures somehow managed to sell that amount, and it is much less than the original sold.

I don't see why the game will be any more popular on the PC than the 360. It only sold a few hundred thousand copies on the 360.

A PC not strong enough to run Viva Pinata. Then they'll come back to our store, asking for a refund that we will refuse to give, and they'll leave pissed. Secretly, I'll be rejoicing.
