Huh?
@Spec -- I think it's acceptable to be hatin' on certain things. Like, say, the Holocaust. Or Reboot.

Man, Reboot revolutionized computer-animated TV shows, since it was the first of its kind.
Also, once they got dropped by their network, they funded their own episodes and made the series darker for an older (Still kid, but for older kids) audience.
What I am trying to say is, Mainframe Entertainment has balls.
Must see if the woman who doesn't think any woman should have any choices because she personally doesn't want them spouted any more drivel about things she knows nothing about.
You could also save yourself some time and just bang your head into a brick wall.
But I can't make the brick wall cry, and the brick wall isn't actively hurting anyone.

I dunno, that brick wall stole my wife and raped my sheep. I'll get you someday, brick wall!

No, she just thinks women are by their nature totally helpless and that every man is a rapist. This is a different bass-ackwards mom. A regular from my little sub-forum community. To be fair, her contributions there are usually pretty sound. It's just that she's a raging misogynist is all.
Oh, and guys, so, I've got this character, see, and he's got a guantlet which is permanently fused to his body. The guantlet can become full-on armor if need be, or a weapon, etc etc. Shape-shifting and all that. It also happens to be home for the soul of an ancient warrior who was sealed inside a while back. So, the main character's armor is actually a character as well. They share something of a symbiotic bond, fused together as they are (inadvertanly for both parties), even if their personalities are somewhat opposed. Hilarity/Drama/Action ensue.
Anyway, I'm just wondering, has this been done to death already? Is there any particular IP that people might see me as blatantly stealing from? After all, I'd like to use this guy in a webcomicmangathing eventually.

That sentence was like an enormous mass of clichés, assembled and taken on life in order to plague the world of the living.

Actually now that I think about it, my dad's wife doesn't actually expect anything at all from women, but can run down a list fifty pages long of the things a man "has to do" to be a man, most of which center around being the only actual person in the relationship. Which makes me feel really bad for my dad, and really glad I don't share his belief that I have an obligation not to be single.
It's also turned up repeatedly in Warhammer mythology which steals from both a variety of actual mythology and other sources so it appears to be pretty commonly used.

It goes without saying that if it's the basis for a shonen fighting-anime (DBZ shit), it's stolen from at least a dozen stories in various regional mythologies.
Edit: Oh wait, am I not allowed to know the term "shonen" unless I'm an anime fanboy who thinks DBZ is "teh best EV4R!"?

Oh, so Scryed is shit? I've heard the name before, but I don't think I've ever heard anyone's opinions about it.

Motherfuck.
I'm just as unoriginal as I thought.
Also: Fullmetal Alchemist.
It's just so fucking unoriginal that it hurts between the eyes.
I don't claim that "cliche" == "shitty". In my experience, most people who do make said claim do so based on the pretense that the cliches that they personally like are not actually cliches, despite being totally fucking cliche.

How is it anything like FMA? Superficially, I guess? I mean, he's got armor on his hand that he can't take off. So, OK, there's that. But it's not like he ever lost his hand, or anything, and his armor is actually a person. Not that that isn't totally unoriginal, apparently (I figured it probably was), but I try to avoid ripping off FMA when I can.

Either that or they refuse to like anything except the prototype which spawned the cliché in the first place.
So, how's the armor in s-CRY-ed work? I take it these "Alter" thingamajigs are what you're talking about? Are they full-fledged characters? The warrior sealed in the guantelt in my current idea is kind of a crotchety old bastard, and something of a foil to the main character. But he's a real character, depsite being also a guantlet. They talk, and shit. I still haven't worked out if/how he'd talk to people other than the main character, but probably by momentarily usurping his vocal cords, of course frequently to comical ends.

Dude, I don't care how you write it. Just as long as it doesn't read like DBZ with living-armor instead of constipated uggos.

What client are you using, the one built-in to the webpage?

....I get the feeling RBB doesn't like me very much, but I can't understand why.
I admit there are some clichés in there, but it was a pretty brief description that doesn't really do justice to the full idea. I'd rather not bore you to tears with that though. Is it really terribly cliché to have the armor also be a person, and symbiotically entwined with the main character? I can't remember seeing something like that, at least not in an anime/manga, but then again there's a high probability that it did seep into my subconscious somewhere.
That's the kind of guy I am Aldo.

Uh, I think you're getting me mixed up with someone else possibly? or is that more of a general rant against people who say that kind of thing?
The latter, and also a litmus test to see if there are any such people present.
Everything is cliché these days.

If not, I'm sure he wouldn't mind explaining why he should wear the mantle of Malcolm Reynolds to the ship's airlock.
From the outside.
