I just preordered the CE along with Brain Age 2, since they come out within a day of each other.

I figure this way I can get scared out of my mind, then whip it back into shape for another round of play. Rinse, then repeat.

Hehe, this cracked me up. Seems like a sound plan!

I am still really pumped for Bioshock. The Saturday after it comes out my friend and I are going to play through the whole thing, or as much as we can. I am hoping I will have completed it at least once by then too.

The only real problem I see with the plan is explaining to the good Dr. Kawashima why I'm playing Brain Age.

"So I was trying to kill a crazy, exploding, teleporting scientist, and accidentally got too close to a giant diver's little sister. He got pissed and blew me away. Blew me away... no, blew me away! Blew! Buh-leeew! BLEW!

...oh for fuck's sake. Fine. He put his drill through my head. No, not red! Head! HEAD! GRAGHGRHRGH"

God dammit. I don't have a computer that can even run Half-Life 2, let alone this, and I don't really want to play an FPS on a 360, even if I owned one.

    And I can't afford to buy/build a new computer.

    Blegh.

Except Condemned, which is goddamned AWESOME.

Also, I'm fully expecting having to play this on the 360, rather than my preferred choice of PC. Damn expensive gaming habits.

Hey, I got called an idiot for saying Adam could be considered stem cells. :x

when abouts? I'm sure i read somewhere that that's basically what it is, harvested from some sea-slug that's abundant in them. I think it was that "gamers with jobs" interview that Tycho linked in the news post a few weeks back, but they commented on the simplistic naming of everything, sea slug, big daddy, little sister, stuff like that, and so on.

It feels weird to be getting this for 360 but I know that deep in my heart my poor x800 pro and 1 gig of RAM just won't do.

CE's shouldn't be hard to pre order this late in the game, will they?

Bioshock will be a pretty good seller, but I think it'll be one of those games that's like #17 on the sales charts for YEARS.

I opted to preorder Stranglehold rather than Bioshock, once I realized that any game with mildly semi-frightening elements intimidate me immensely.

For example, if I battle ghosts or demons in morrowind, I typically flee in fear. Headcrabs in hl2 also induce fits of aversion and paranoia to an extent.

Perhaps by christmas I'll marshal my forces of rationality and purchase this game.
and subsequently be driven to new unprecedented heights of TERROR..under the SEA

Sounds fun but with so many other must buy games coming the next few months...
Buy yes or no? (No rental places near me, it BITES).

No, you are no longer allowed this game. If you are unable to see it's awesomeness by now, you are not allowed.

That's OK, you aren't allowed this game either.

I will hold your hand, I too am scared shitless of being scared. You are allowed this game, but you will have to man up first.

I just PM'd Garnett from 1UP to ask him if they recieved their copies of Bioshock. He told me 2K got really paranoid about pirating or something, so now the 1UP guys have to go to a hotel for a few nights to review it.
Hopefully their reviews will be up sometime soon.

I'd join with my computer and turn myself into a digital whirlwind of death, causing all of their computers to explode and pepper them with shards of metal and plastic so they die slowly. I really like how the Big Daddies are going to be like mobile boss fights, and that you can choose when and where, and of course, how to take them on. That's really unique, but I think I will find myself saving and loading a lot, especially when you can turn enemies onto each other. I'm just the type of guy who likes to explore everything, and then pick up anything after my initial run though, so I might clear an area of enemies first before taking on a Big Daddy however that might be bad if said area is low on cover, I am rather low on ammo, and there isn't many props/world Items I can use to help me. In the videos, it seems using other enemies is quite effective, but if I kill them all first and leave the boss fights for last, well then I can have a problem with a lack of proper tools/toys to take on these beasts properly without having to expend huge amounts of ammo into their heads.

see, i imagine part of the thinking is that, say you do start something and it goes awry, you have the ability to get yourself out of it. Not every fight has to be a well-choreographed showdown, but can go a bit pear-shaped, but if you think fast enough, you can recover the situation. This is a good thing.

i can't remember anything official, but i imagine it's a tough one to estimate. It sounds like there's a lot of story and exploration you can do, which will obviously take you much longer than if you just fire straight through. Also, there's different endings, so you may want to play through again. From the sounds of it, there's a lot of 'game' there, and of a good quality, which is all i need to hear.
