I have a story of the opposite case, also.

A friend borrowed R-type Final not long before I got out of the military. I moved from Delaware to Oregon, and when he left the military, he moved to New Hampshire. After we got settled in our new apartments, he returned my game in person.

    Chakkan The Forever Man.

Flip out and kill things. Use potions. level is constantly moving around. Swords. Zombie/Mummy/Ninja/Shaman. For some reason it just seemed really really cool.

    "
A sequel was planned and developed somewhat by Ed Annunziata's studio AndNow, but no new information about the project has been released since 2001. It was planned to be released for as many current platforms as possible, according to Ed Annunziata himself in an interview with SegaFans during May of 2001. Much of the work on the Chakan sequel was later absorbed into the 2002 game Blood Omen 2, as discovered by fans of the series. [1]

Son of a bitch - I can't seem to find my GBA copies of Link to the Past and the Minish Cap. It's like they shrunk and decided to live with the fairies in my friend's room...

...I don't know if there really are fairies, but there's some sort of fairy magic going on there, that's for sure.

I can't even remember who it was, I lent a bunch of people PC games, that's the only one I didn't get back...

Want I should find it again? I sitll never sent you the box that I gutted to save on shipping (still have it for your next package). Ironically, I believe Fry's Electronics has the European import version for under $10USD.

I had to buy their European import version of Breath of Fire 4 (PC) when I saw that for under $10. ;)

Hmm... I lent Wind Waker to a friend once, in exchange for the Zelda Collector's Disk with OoT: Master Quest and stuff on it. His Gamecube and all his games, including Wind Waker, were later stolen since he carried them all around in a backpack with him. But he isn't a douchebag, so I got full ownership of the collector's disk out of it, and we called it even. And I recently got a replacement copy of Wind Waker.

Okay, I might be getting this wrong as I don't remember too clearly, but several years ago wasn't there a mod here who was organizing a charity to give old game systems and games to kids in hospitals, and when he recieved them all he vanished from the forums? I think he was a mod, too.

Wait, he loses almost all his games and then you take his last one? Talk about kicking him while he's down. I was robbed out of a nearly $3,000 Gamecube collection and I probably would have taken my rage out on you if you told me that story while the wounds were fresh. ;)

Also, I loaned a copy of God of War to a friend of mine and he gave it to a friend of mine to give back to me. I knew about it and I never got around to picking it up (I'm kinda lazy), so eventually the friend that originally borrowed it, borrowed it again. Then a friend of his stole it. He's a good guy though and gave me $30 to replace it, so I guess that wasn't too bad.

No, no, stop the thread. I have the ultimate story.

I was at my friend's house, and so was another kid who was a friend of his. This was back when Pokemon was insanely popular.

Kid A: "Hey, can I borrow your Pokemon for the Elite Four?"
    Kid B: "Yeah, sure."
Kids A and B link up, Kid A gives his Pokemon to Kid B.

Kid B: "YOU FELL FOR MY TRAP!"

Kid B runs out the door, jumps in a waiting van, and moves to Arkansas.

He didn't have a gamecube he could play it on anymore and either couldn't afford or didn't care to get another one at the time, so he had no use for it.

Well, several years ago my cousin was living with my family and I. For starters my brother came home once and found a 'page' of his magic cards missing, he flipped out, broke a chair and kicked my cousin out of his room. Later, my cousin borrowed my skateboard which promptly vanished into the nether. This continued with all of my rares such as Boba Fett, and Luke Skywalker vanishing from my Star Wars decks back when Star Wars CCG was actually popular and the cards worth something.

I bitched and bitched and bitched to my parents, they kept yelling at my cousin, who claimed 'I didn't take anything!" then one afternoon I was in the basement, milling about when I saw red deck protectors beneath something. All in a neat pile, my cards reappeared!

But for some strange vengeance he asked if he could borrow my Game Boy, a clear one back when they did the multiple color thing. Link's Awakening, and Metroid 2(which I had just gotten) I never saw them again. He probably pawned them for drugs.

Also my brother has 12-15 of my DVDs which I want back, it doesn't take you a year to watch 15 movies okay!

And a friend has my second disc for the UT GOTY edition, and 12 Monkeys in his car which has been in the shop for several weeks. He's been driving his mom's car lately because of it.

    Hahaha, no way.

God, I seriously considered doing that back when I still had my copy of Blue... like finding a kid at school, and trading with them just before I had to go on a vacation or something. Does that make me a bad person?

At college my two AWESOME friends had many, many game systems in their dorm room. Last year they had in a 4-person dorm:

    -A NES
    -A SNES
-A Dreamcast (with arcade controller for Marvel Vs Capcom 2)
    -A Nintendo 64
    -A Gabecude
    -A PS2
-And the crown jewel: A Vectrex ! Trust me, it is the coolest thing ever! I still pray I find one some day for a good price...

Suffice to say, I spent many, many hours playing their games on their systems. I feel kinda bad about it, but I think they took pride in showing me the wonders of all the games I could not play as a kid (pretty much everything except Tetris and Rebel Assault 2... and later Pokemon).

    tl;dr - I am a game mooch. I don't even borrow them; I play them on other people's systems.

A copy of Grand Theft Auto 2 for the PC and Diablo I for the PSX mysteriously showed up in my house one day. Same with the booklet for FFVII. Not the game, or the case.. just the booklet. I've had them for years now and I still have no idea who they're from. I'm assuming my brother's friends, but... *shrug*

Also, this isn't a game, but I bought a PSX multitap a while back. Day I got it, my brother's going over to his friend's house and asks to borrow it. I say sure, whatever. So about 3 years later I finally get it back. Still haven't used it.

    The original Tecmo Bowl (NES)

My uncle (probably 25 years older than me, and I had it when I was 7 or 8) for some reason LOVED Tecmo bowl to death.

So he had my cousin "borrow" it.

Fast forward a year, I ask "Hey, can I get Tecmo Bowl back?"

Cousin: "Huh? What are you talking about."

Me: "...I lent you Tecmo Bowl"

Cousin: "What are you talking about? This is our copy. We never borrowed a copy. We've always had our own copy of Tecmo Bowl. We've always been at war with Eastasia."

Me: "You lie damnably. You lie like an ape!"

...but other than that, cousin and uncle have always been cool, so I didn't press the issue.

I lent a friend SotC, and around the time I was going to ask for it back he has had all kinds of troubles. His little sister got teen pregnant, he (stupidly) decided to help out a friend sell some weed in his friend's apartment becuase said friend had to quick run an errand, and this one time he did the favor was when the purchasers were undercover cops with wires. He also had his laptop stolen. With everything piling up for his family, it feels a bit awkward going over and saying "Say, uh, can I have SotC back?"

A few years ago, I was a member of a group of people who applied for a job at Q.C Data, one of the more prominent businesses in the nearby business park, just outside the city. For six months we were to be trained to convert data from old software into a completely new package for Yorkshire Electricity, or something. Anyway, of this group, two of us had N64's (this was back in '97 when very few people in Ireland had an N64), though it was early days yet. I had three games - Super Mario 64, Turok - Dinosaur Hunter, and Mario Kart 64. He had only one game, the first Bomberman game released for the N64 - Bomberman 64, or Bomberman Hero or some such.

He'd heard a lot about Super Mario 64, and though I had no inclination to play the Bomberman game, I lent him my copy as I'd already finished it. 120 stars, and all that. A few days later, he disappears, and the company had no contact information for him. Grargh :x

I hate it when I lose things in confined spaces. For instance I lost my copy of WarioWare INC in my Dad's car. We literally ripped the car apart looking for since we were going to sell it for junk a week later.

I also lost my copy of Sonic Advance 2 in my room. I searched for a year and could still not find it. It drives me nuts...I KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE!!!

To make matters worse they were some of my favorite games ever and my only GBA games I played.

I still rue the day my oldest brother lent his copy of Marble Madness to a friend way back in the day.

    Also, a Gamecube horror story.

I was playing Smash Bros with my brothers/friends at my grandma's house, and we made my 10 yr. old little brother fistfight my friend (who was 7 years older) for a playing spot. My aunt overhears us yelling "PUNCH HIM IN THE NUTS!", among various other disgusting things, from the room down the hall. She runs out of the house and returns with my big, angry bald uncle, who promptly throws us all out of the house.

The next school day I need to get something from my grandma's house to bring my friend, and when I go to the basement...oh god...it's like those pictures cops take of murder scenes. My Gamecube, both memory cards with countless hundreds of hours of gameplay on them, all four controllers, and a few of my games were just shattered to bits all over the room. It looked like he had strapped it all into a pile of c4 and set it off in the middle of the room, or turned into some kind of tornado man and just went mad cow all over my junk. He freaking broke Gauntlet: Dark Legacy in half sideways, like top to bottom. How in the frick!?

I have lost SO MANY games. Probably five N64 games, five GBA games, my original GBA that I installed the Afterburner in, my GBA SP, ten each Cube and PS2 games, four Cube controllers (probably my Cube too)... A good few precious SNES games (FF3, Mana, Metroid)...

It's all thanks to my brother. I love my brother dearly, but I lent him shit, or let him keep my shit in his room when I still lived with my folks, or left shit there after moving out. It's all gone. Either lent out to friends, or pawned. He's not like that anymore, but as a teenager...

I've never really been able to get myself to care all that much though. The loss of FF3 stung because playing that game is like a religious experience to me, but other than that I never really cared.
