Okay, I have more and more problems with my Internet. But before I spend 3 hours of my life talking to EARTHLINK TECH SUPPORT in India, maybe someone here can help me.
Every 10 minutes, the Internet goes down for about 10 seconds. What's going on? Is there something I can do, or do I need to call my Internet company and tell them what's going on while they're asking if I've tried resetting my modem and router (which I have, I've done all of the standard stuff).
Edit: I'd also like to add I have tried switching modems and to no avail. That is how shoddy this damn Internet service is - I have two functional modems because Earthlink thought one was broken once and sent me a new one.
Edit 2: It's stopped it seems. I am on a wired connection, and this was happening for two days persistently. I even reset the router to factory settings a week or two ago but this still happened.
It could be outside interferance. When my internet connection gets all twitchy I usually go find something else to do an come back a few hours later. Most of the time everything is back to normal but sometimes I have to wait for the next day.
Are you using wireless or wired? If it's wireless, well...that kind of stuff is somewhat normal. If it's wired, yeah, you have a problem.
Have you tried switching out the router with a different one? I've had spotty luck with routers, and I had to keep switching models and brands until one worked well. You might just have a bad router currently. You could try updating the firmware first to see if that solves it, and barring that, maybe try to borrow one from a friend before going out and buying a new one.
I have that same Earthlink router, and it does that. There is NOTHING you can do. No update or anything will fix it. I spent over 2 months doing all I could. The answer is they sent out a faulty product.
I'm not even kidding. Look around, that is the answer you will come up with.

There is nothing you can do except move to Switzerland and get FiOS.
There's my 2 cents.
