Motorstorm Bluetooth woes

As a recent adopter of a PS3, and hencefourth, Motorstorm, I need to ask a question to the throbbing hubs of information that is the PA G&T forum.
I have a bluetooth headset(a cheap VoiceStar VS610 to be exact.) My PS3 registered the headset no problem, and it connects to it when I tell it to do so. The problems arise when I start my game.
I connect to a game, and click the talk button on my headset, and gleefully spout "HAY GUIES! Watz goin ON?!" But to my dismay the transmit icon does not appear! Is there a step I am missing? Is there a controller hotkey?
Help me out, and post other woes here, I guess.(Please)
