Am I the only one looking forward to Rune Factory?
Am I? I mean, I've always thought it was pretty silly to play Harvest Moon. You grow turnips, then pick them. That shouldn't be fun. Yet I love it. And now I'm looking forward to the same thing, but with a fantasy twist. Instead of sheep, I get fantasy sheep. Should I be looking forward to this as much as I am?

YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
Hell, I talk about it any chance I get. My bro and I imported it, even though we suck at Japanese. It looks good and plays good. There is a sequel on its way as well.
I've been looking forward to Rune Factory but I hate hate hate Natsume. It takes forever for them to translate a game, they delay the release over and over, and then when the game comes out it's full of glitches and spelling errors.
I love Harvest Moon and I'm glad this game is just a spinoff to try something different (I wouldn't want every Harvest Moon game to be like this). It really looks like fun but I think I'm more looking forward to the Island Harvest Moon coming out eventually.
Also, Natsume really is bad at translations. Forget grad school, it's so pathetic that if I could, I'd volunteer to proofread things for them. They really need it. Still, I'll be getting this and maybe the PS2 "Futuristic" one, but I also look forward most to the traditional ones. I still miss the fat rolling pregnant cows and leaping calves of the SNES version.
I've been really looking forward to it for months, but now that it's nearer release, I've realized that I'm going to have to wait a good long while before I get it. There are simply too many high priority games coming out this fall/winter, it's a crying shame they couldn't eek this out early in the summer.
From then on, the game is very open ended. The player can work on the farm, fish or explore the caves in the wilderness around Caludia. The player can also court any (or all) of the eligible girls in town, capture monsters, and expand the characters house. The game's plot mostly revolves around the monster-infested caves and mountains around Caludia, the goal being to fight through them and defeat the strongest enemies at the end of each cave. As the story progresses, more and more caves open up, and the player gradually learns more about who is causing this influx of monsters.
Edit : And didn't Natsume once misspell their own name once?

I remember seeing a preview and was very interested in this. Then it dropped out of sight and I thought it had been cancelled or something. But it's stuck in translation hell, then?
I'm definitely interested in this. Originally I had planned to get Harvest Moon DS for my birthday in August last year. That fell through due to endless delays (didn't come out in Europe till the beginning of this year!). So I'm trying again this birthday with a new Harvest Moon that's supposed to be a little different (this is a good thing). Definitely looking to import this one, even if it will be badly translated or whatnot because I'm tired of these games taking over half a year to get to Europe.
Harvest Moon is still my favorite series EVAR but, like the rest, I absolutely despise Natsume. These games are just way too damn buggy. Harvest Moon DS was inexcusable.

Well, consider yourself lucky you're not dealing with Rising Star Games... I mean, Magical Melody (which must be like two years old now) isn't coming out here until October 19th at the earliest. Sure, given that it's being ported to the Wii now that's actually not that bad a delay, but the wait we had to endure when it was still a 'Cube game...

Yeah, in the end the more traditional HMs will always be the ones I look forward to the most. Rune Factory does look damn sexy though...

A Wonderful Life for PS2 kind of killed my harvest moon buzz. But its still in me somewhere... like a forgotten potato seed waiting for a rainy day... Aha! See?
The current release date is the 15 or 16th of this month, I believe.
The Futuristic Harvest Moon is called Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon or something like that. There was one on the PSP that doesn't look like it was all that grand, but now there's supposed to be some sort of special edition released for the PS2 sometime this year.

Supposedly it's due out on the 14th. It's already been pushed back a lot, so hopefully this date will be solid.
