I was thinking about games like Zelda: PH, Ninja Gaiden: DS, and a few other games that sort of bridge that psychological gap between non-gamer and gamer games. Zelda: PH was made in such a way that a new gamer or an experienced gamer could get the hang out of it quickly, but keeps the charm and challenge of a normal Zelda title intact. I think Ninja Gaiden DS is going for the same approach
I think the main reason this works so well is because it basically gets rid of the fear of buttons that many novice gamers had. I mean looking at a PS2 or GC controller from a non-gamer perspective, it must look pretty intimidating.
Anyway, this got me to thinking. What other titles could be adapted to this "all around approachable" game design? What other (otherwise frightning to non-gamers) titles could be tweaked into a DS game that's approachable by both sides of the spectrum?
Now, this might be odd, but I'm going to say Metal Gear Solid. I played my first semi-metal gear game today (that missions game for the PS1), and it just sort of dawned on me like a ton of bricks. "Hey, I bet this could be adapted to the DS, and still be enjoyable!"
To be honest, I'd really have to think flesh that idea out a lot more, but it just seems like a game that would work with it if they tampered enough.
Any other games that you guys can think of?

In fact, didn't you just basically outline their marketing strategy?
