I hate it when I'm purposely trying to get/do/see everything in a game and somehow get thwarted.

Failing to get the Zodiac Spear in Final Fantasy XII.

Being stuck at 200.5% in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Stuck at 149 Pokemon in Red.

Final Fantasy X-2 is wrought with dead ends and missed dressspheres and grids. What a pain!

Having 7/8 of your Tier 1 epic set in WoW back in the day.

Story characters dying in games where death is permanent, being cut off from various faction quests in PC RPGs, missing overpowered characters or equipment, failing to open all the chests in a location you can only visit once, these are all anathema to me.

Why must I care so much? D:

I hate it when the difficulty ramps up to 11 on the final level of the game. By that point, the fun is gone and I just want to beat so I never have to play it again.

I hate the idea of playing through a game and not seeing everything there is to see, but I've been forced to concede that most of the time it's just not going to happen. A lot of games are designed to keep you playing that game instead of someone else's for as long as possible, but that's really not an effective use of my time. There comes a point when I'm not having as much fun as I'd be having if I moved on to another game.

I remember blue coins or something that my friend kept telling me to shoot when I played RE4 at his place. I'm kind of worried I'll miss one of them when I play the wii version.

Wild Arms 4. It's impossible to fill up the monster encyclopedia thingy for the bonuses without a gameshark due to a programming error. My need for those bonuses has stopped me from playing that game.

Also, Minish Cap. Light arrows. Fuck you Nintendo. Zelda games aren't supposed to have missable weapons. I'm fine with little figures being missable but the LIGHT ARROWS?! You guys suck. I had to replay the whole game because of those stupid things..... which actually wasn't that bad but STILL.

There aren't any that are at some point of no return or anything, and there's even a map that shows their locations. You'll be fine.

This exact issue has made it terribly difficult for me to enjoy FFVI.

I mean, cripes, you can permanently lose party members without warning, and it's not like Chrono Cross where there's too many to care about.

Final Fantasy Tactics my "perfect" file. I killed and absorbed the non-unique (not Rad, Alicia and the other) starting units permanently marking my record with casualties. It's not a huge deal, but it still irritates me that I'll never have a "0" there on that file.

The only thing that unlocks is the Character Encyclopedia and Voice Library. Which lets you view the models of each Main Character and a little blurb from the developers about them, and all the battle voices.

Yeah, totally not worth it. Considering the battle voices were bad enough in the main game.

Beyond Good & Evil did this right: there's always a second chance to get a photo of something, even the boss fights.

I think I was at 85% in Metroid Prime Hard Mode when I realized I had missed the Ice Shriekbat. Oh how I loathe the Ice Shriekbat. Thankfully MP is endlessly replayable.

Even still, what made it annoying was the fact that I couldn't get it at all. Normally I could at least tell myself "Eh, I'll do it eventually, just not now." But no, I couldn't even do that because instead I had to tell myself it was hopeless since I don't own a gameshark and nobody I know does either.

Incidentally, why was that monster cut out of the game in the first place? I looked online a bit but never could find out why or what the monster even looked like. Was it offensive or something?

    The... what? Well, bugger.

Severance had the same issue if I recall - four (or more) little symbols that you had to shoot with the (optional and pretty useless otherwise) bow, otherwise the final weapon was next to useless. I had to replay the game like four times to get them all.

I missed those too. Goddamn annoying. Also from the game: I thought I'd beat the last storyline boss, then go and build both character's stats and get all the best weapons and whatnot. And it turns out one of them isn't available for the bonus chapter. :x
