Xbox 360 doesn't play DVD movies

So I have my 360 hooked up to a Samsung 23in LCD (exactly like the demo kiosk ones) through component playing at 720p. Now games and DVD menus are great and play like they should but once I play a movie it flickers from video to black screen that says unsupported display and back although sound is fine. Also when video is shown it is very shakey. But I tried 300 on it last night it played flawlessly.
