I'm shocked that no one's started a thread for the con this weekend. Some interesting stuff has been announced at WW: Chicago. I'm mostly gonna cover Marvel stuff because there's a good bit of it and because I like Marvel a lot.
I just got back from Wizard World Chicago today (Aug. 10). I have exciting news! At the end of the DC Nation panel today, it was announced that there will be a “The Dark Knight†panel [on Saturday, Aug. 11]!
While they didn’t specifically mention “The Dark Knight,†they did drop several hints that it’s definitely going to be that. Here’s the information:
At 10 a.m. at the DC Comics booth, several things will be given out to those lucky enough to be at the head of line to get them:
1) A secret item.
2) A wristband.
3) A piece of paper with important instructions.
The wristband will get people into a “special DC/Warner Brothers presentation†in the Dave Cockrum Room at 6 p.m. (not 2 p.m. as previously thought). They’re going to pack the room full with people.
No electronics of any kind allowed. Nothing that can record sound and/or images. This includes cell phones, MP3 players, video cameras, still-image cameras, etc.
No one will be allowed in the panel if they have any of these items. Though I wasn’t sure if this was a joke (even though they said they were being serious), apparently there will be people scoping out the room with night-vision goggles.
They said they want this to be something special for the people in the room and not something special for 1 million people on YouTube.
At the beginning of Wizard World this morning, I talked to a guy working the DC booth. At first he acted like he knew nothing about any “The Dark Knight†panel, but after his boss left, he told me there will be footage shown (but no trailer).
This is giant. I mean, god. I hope this is the start of a great working relationship between Genndy and Marvel. In the interview, he says he'd love to do a wartime Cap. :!!:
And how much truth is in the wiki, saying he wants to do a Dark Tower cartoon for HBO. Cause I just shat myself and it better have been worth it.
Is Vertigo part of the multiverse? No. We all love Swamp Thing. Write your letters to Karen Berger telling her that the DC Universe would be good for him.
Where do you see the All-Star imprint going? “We still put out All Star books We have long term plans for the two existing All-Star books. Jim Lee is working hard on his stuff, while Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely aren’t complaining.
A fan asked about the Marv Wolfman-written Raven mini-series; and it was said that it will be coming out end of this year or the beginning of next year. DiDio said that they wanted to get a bunch of the work in the can before they started shipping that miniseries.
A Dr. Thirteen ongoing? Maybe
Terra? March of next year.
All Star Batgirl: On hold
All Star Flash: No plans
Manhunter: Waiting on on Marc Andreyko, probably see more of her in Birds of Prey.
While the new JLA and TT kids titles look to be pretty terrible, or at least virtually unreadable for anyone older than ten, Mike Kunkel did a fucking excellent all-ages title called Herobear and the Kid which was just astounding, so I have no doubt that Captain Marvel comic will be awesome.
Still, it sucks that the JLU title's being cancelled, especially since it had a pretty nice all-ages appeal that these books will likely lack.
If they're going to make this Super Friends book for kids, why do they still have to draw them all as intensely ripped? I mean, look at The Flash there.

GOD, MAN.
His work on New Avengers was pretty decent, he had a few too many lines, but nothing major.
He has been getting worse ever since.

Oh my god.
I know, right? Essential Luke Cage vol. 1 is one of my favorite trades. I look forward to anything that'll capture the awesomeness of 70s Cage.

But...but what is he waiting on? DC to give him more of a push so it's not just a cocktease return? Or my manlove? Cause, ::unzips::...

we're losing Teen Titans Go! for this adorable shit
and uh, this just looks terrible
FUCK
No it's not. I am mad at it.
That... just looks awful.

I just wasn't a big enough fan of the Teen Titans show to care about its comic.
Plus, tiny Aqualad looks like Ben Savage and, man, Boy Meets World.
I also never read JLU, but I figured it would get cancelled eventually what with the show being over.
They says it's monthly
They also said Ultimates 2 would be monthly
Millar on FF.
Because
you know
he just wrote the characters so well in Civil War.
I wonder how much Anti-America stuff he's going to cram in to it
Apparently Jann Jones misspoke and TTG isn't getting dropped.
But JLU is still dead and I'm still pissed.
The entire book will be Thing talking about how rad France was.
I just like exaggeration.
HMM
I think this is an Invaders story
because I can't see Marvel not letting Brubaker handle cap's return.
alex ross took interview classes from joey q
I don't mind black panther and storm as characters, but I don't really think they've really worked so far
