I'm no NMA zealot. I like the way fallout 3 looks, I am very excited for it.

But I am not optimistic at all for this. Think about how many MMO's have been botched? Warcraft is a notable exception but if there was a moore's law for MMO failure Blizzard would be exempt.

I have no faith in interplay. If a better company was making it, maybe.

And don't bother with "It won't be good". It most probably won't be good. But it may.
It won't be good. It being good would require a miracle on the level of a good Phoenix game.

I wanna cast my lot with the "How the fuck will that work?" crowd.

I save all doouubt until we see scrinies and concepts. Whoas, cold pill affecting hands, night night.

Stay away from NMA, lets not start thread wars, we would become bogged down in an unwinable war.

Edit: Berry hard to make good Moo, need good idea and committed fan base. Also need lots of principal to support development and tweaking and servers, that why WOW get so big so fast, Blizzard has mad IP money to toss at problems to make them go away. Interplay, not so much, now if they partner with Arenanet or whoever does EQ, maybe they have chance, but as is, odds against them, like midwest corn fed fatass at poker table, tooo many bad hands and he blowing Chinamen like me for cab fare home. *joking*

Well look on the bright side theres no real way Interplay can get funding for this when they don't really have any positive revenue to speak of. And no a one time cash in from selling the fallout license does not an income make.

    Not gonna happen.

Even cashing all the rest (what little there is) in theres no way that would sustain them enough to make an MMO and get rid of their debts. It takes gobs and gobs of money to make an MMO and Interplay just doesn't make enough profit to make and release an MMO.

Alot of mixed emotions about the Fallout MMO.

People either think it's going to be ultra awesome and worthy with a fantastic developer backing it up, or a complete waste of shelf space and an Interplay revival shot-in-the-dark.

    Who knows.

there's no way this is going to be anything but Interplay trying to make a quick buck by riding Bethesda's FO3 coattails. And it's not that I'm pessimistic about Interplay's ability to make a good game as much as I'm pessimistic about playing Fallout with other people.

I dreamed about a Fallout MMO for a long time. Since then I've played many MMO's, and every single one of them has ended up being so tedious that the life of the world is sucked right out. When I play Fallout games, I get immersed in another world, and I'm not interested in sharing that world with some greasy powergaming shut-ins.

Amen. I only play MMOs because single player RPGs are so rare these days. The other people who play MMOs are the worst part of the game, and the constant jargon and leetspeak completely destroys the atmopshere.

Fallout MMO is use of a great RPG license to make a quick buck.

I'm sure you all have played MMOs before. Consider public chat long and hard. Do you really want that crap polluting a universe known for its witty dialogue and writing?

There are way better mediums to sell the license out on. I'd take a Fallout FPS before an MMO.

All I know is there are 90 dudes working on it and it's due late next year. That was an up-in-the-air date I read in a small panel in a PC mag. So grain of salt yarda yarda.
