I have a friend who's looking for a wireless adapter for his 360. He doesn't want to pay the price for the MS one. Will any wireless ethernet adapter work?

Any suggestions?

I have a cable run from my PC to my xbox. The pc picks up internet wirelessly, then bridges the connection to the xbox.

I know that it's really weird.

    It works

    Probably won't help you much.

I've heard people talk about a "wireless bridge" or something, but I was never able to figure out what the fuck they are talking about.

I was just thinking about this. Does your NIC have two slots or do you use a second nic or some type of USB to Ethernet hub?

    It's $10 less on Amazon.com($88.99 instead of 99.99)...

I've been trying to figure out this same thing before I get myself a 360. I'm almost to the point where I'm just going to pay for the Microsoft made one.

    1 NIC

    1 USB to wireless dealy.

My landlord lets me mooch free internet, but the router is in the other room, so I mooch wirelessly.

Basically a little station that picks up the wireless and puts it through an ethernet cable into the 360. Since in the end its just ethernet you can use any old PCs one unlike the USB wireless adapters, which gives you only the choice of using Microsoft's one.

    Here?

I just picked one from the same manufacturer as my router, because I remember seeing Newegg carrying it over a year ago when I was shopping for a wireless router.

What you want to look for is usually found by searching with the terms "wireless ethernet bridge".

let me get this straight. the standalone device converts wireless signal into wired so xbox 360 still thinks it's wired?

I've also seen wireless range extenders being used as Ethernet bridges. You can pick one up on newegg for around $30 but they are not very user friendly.
