Everything I've read indicates no mouse support in Doom95 on WinXP (and presumably Vista) systems. I'd be willing to guess that this comprises the bulk of PC gamers so is there a driver out there to correct this issue? And if not, has the STEAM version of DOOM been considered? It's only $10 and it seems a bit hypocritical to yell at the console players about using the proper UI for shooters and then go ahead and force ourselves back onto strictly keyboards for the seminal title

Honestly, mouse support isn't as important in Doom as you might think, since there's no vertical aim. If someone is straight ahead horizontally but above you, for instance, you auto-aim up to kill him.
heheh.. yeah I know. I'm a 30-yr-old who cut his teeth on DOOM, ah, how far we've come, though at the time I didn't use the side-step feature at all. I spent a few hours trying to develop a handle on a control scheme without the mouse. It'll do a a pinch, just curious if anyone had found a workaround. Thanks for the response. See you at PAX.

I've not found a mouse-compatibility feature for DOOM95 myself.
The control scheme I use to get around that is remarkably similar to WSAD format. W, S, A, D for forward, backward, and left/right strafe. Left arrow and right arrow for turning. Up Arrow for fire, Down Arrow for 'use'. Shift for 'run' as always.
Works remarkably well with a minimum amount of hand movement.

Mouse?
In a first person shooter?
How would -that- work?
