Appeal to pity-last minute person Update: need ride for Sun night/Mon morning

Wow I hate being "that person", but until I just moved to Vancouver this weekend, I hadn't considered attending this year's PAX at all.

But with the entire week off before school starts, alone in a newish city and so geographically close to PAX (that's in a city I was just in a couple weeks ago for a concert), I think I could pull it off...

HOWEVER,

I am obviously lacking in each of the 3 major areas. Now I've been scrambling to do my own research too and have been investigating multiple options simultaneously but I just though I might consolidate things into one thread and sorta put it out there that Deus would like some help. If I dont make it, it's not the end of the world. But I can go so I'd like to go.

Need:

-entry! a 3 day pass. Currently (unless someone has one to sell) I'll be needing to line up Friday morning (how early?!) to get one at the window.

- travel! I'm in Vancouver. Seems to be a couple options, there is the Amtrak bus that goes to Seattle for about $30 CAD each way, OR if someone is driving from this area and has a free spot that'd be best. I could contribute gas costs of course. Last resort is driving my own car alone down there and then having to find parking as well.

- someplace to stay! I'm currently seeing if a couple places in downtown Seattle have any availability, but otherwise a soft floor or couch at ANYONE's place would do just fine. (I am not needy and the cleanest person around). Or if someone wanted to put me inside a hotel room they have space in, that'd be kosher as well - as long as the costs are split (aiming for about $30/night for me wherever i end up)

Thank you very much!

Take a look around at threads... There is a 'need place to stay' thread at least, and I believe a roadtrip thread as well. From what I've heard, sale for passes will begin 2 hours before the convention, every day. How long of a line to expect? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMEAfqrp1-Q was last year.

Edit: http://forums.penny-arcade.com/showthread.php?t=14734 Canadian supertrip. No idea if it's too late or what.

How many people would you say is in that line? A few hundred? It looks long and it is long, but I've waited in lines of similar length. Prolly no more than 500 people in that line.

Note: I could be way off.

I'm just saying that this is a convention. Everything needed for convention opening x Murphy's Law = long ass wait. I forget how long the delay was last year.

15-30 minutes if I recall correctly, I was 10 feet from the front door and we could see the enforcers inside, mocking us.

Actually once the doors open they are pretty quick about getting everyone in. No worries about too long of a wait. But yeah, enforcers are there to mock us people that are outside. Really, its part of their job.

Yeah I've been posting in the other threads as well.

So you're saying passes would be sold at noon on Friday at the earlies?

Is that line for people who need tickets then? Or those that already have them? Or both?

Last year there were 2 separate lines. One to buy passes, and one to get in to the building. I assume it'll be the same this year.

They unofficially abandoned that last year (seeing as though the doors opened 30-45 minutes after the ofificial time) and I think officially both lines start moving at the same time this year.

Is it PAX <insert nearest future PAX here> yet?

sorta kinda getting this worked out, but still dont have a confirmed ride or place to stay

I could get to the safeway meeting point for the CST tomorrow, but that in itself could be a challenge without having someone to drop me off or pick me up. I suppose I could get up early enough to bus it over there. I wouldnt want to drive and then have to leave my car there 3 days is all.

    HMMM

I remember someone who spent pax06 sleeping in his car. You can probably find someone's car to stuff luggage into. Dunno about sleep that night though.
