I used to play that, as well as SB reg and SB+. Beta tested DAoC. If I had been 3 years older, I would be working with them on a professional basis, and probably rich.
Mmmmmm Magestorm.. played that while it was still free and beta. Loved it.
Mythic knew how to make some unique classes.. I loved creating walls or flying around void bolting mofos with my arcanist (I think that was the one)
Then I look at some of the unique classes in Daoc.. and think. man why cant other games have cool shit like the Animist or how they did the necromancer.
I was considering starting a thread, but it seems more appropriate to necro post this one. There is some very promising work being done by the community to bring back Magestorm. The servers are down right now, but so far they've been able to get people into the game and some of the spells working properly.
It's going to be a while (if it happens) until it is back in a playable state, but they have released the source that they're working with and are recruiting help from anyone that is willing and capable. It's VB and assembly.

If you want a blast from the past, you can still play Meridian 59 though :P

As far as I know they're using their own code. I don't know how far fair use lets them go for something that isn't a money making venture.
