Windows XP help (booting)

Okay so here's what's going on (hopefully I can get some help, because this is pretty major... I've got Bioshock to beat!):

I was surfing around on the web, when my computer made a loud sound and shut off. I shat myself and turned it back on. Booted normal, but it said the C:\Windows\System32 folder was corrupt, and to put in the windows xp cd and hit R to repair.

So I dug out my xp disk, and put it in and rebooted. It asked me to press any key to boot from CD, and I did. The blue screen pops up and it goes through it's normal routine... But right when it gets to the end, I get a blue screen of death that says:

"Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area"

With no filename at the end (like I've seen before). I burnt another copy of my XP disk (I made an image of it on my notebook), and I get the same deal.

I was able to take the HDD out and hook it up to my IDE to USB device, and backup all the data off of it. I even formatted it from there. Thinking that would help.

Tried it again, and I get the same area. Do you guys have any ideas on how to resolve this???

Oh man... I can only laugh at this....

After formatting my old HDD and freaking out about all my lost data...

It was my RAM. One stick went bad... When I put in MEMTEST it ran for 2 seconds and displayed a screen of red.

Jesus.... I didn't have to do any of that formatting or anything........ Wow. I'm an idiot.

Anyway: Keep this in mind kids. Run MEMTEST when it says "Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area".
