My super duper uber thanks to PAX07 + My Success Story

Hey guys, PAX07 was truly the best PAX so far for me. I've been going since 2005 and it keeps getting better year after year. I have a big story to share. Please bare with me. XD

First, I wanna thank everyone I met who was so kind and generous. I wanna thank all the enforcers for being so kind and helpful to everyone. I also wanna thank my friend who supported me through the tournaments I was in.

This year, I had a goal, I wanted to do some damage in the GHII tournament, I had trained a bit, but I really didn't think I'd go very far. On Friday night, I didn't have a partner for the GHII doubles. I asked at least 50 different people - if not more - if they were good at GH, had a partner, wanted to play, etc.. Luckily, about 5 minutes before registration closed, I met a guy who JUST came in to PAX.

We teamed up, and actually won 1st place in the GHII team tourney.

The next day, I had saved on to my points; I had a plan on what to do with them. I then went to the GHII singles tourney, and, I actually took 1st place again.

But this next part is really what I wanna talk about.

After winning both the tournaments. I really thought about it for a minute, and decided to go through with the plan I had. You see, I had 450 prize points. In the end, only 50 of those points were actually spent on myself.

I purchased a Wii and a DS Lite with those points, then a couple of other things. I had the chance of meeting Scott Ramsoomair and had him sign the DS and the Wii. My plan was this: Give the Wii away to a random person at PAX after getting it signed by a lot of people.

Well, the original plan changed. I ended up donating the Wii to Child's Play, and I couldn't have been any happier. It was probably the greatest thing I've ever done in my life and it felt so good. Yeah, I was called crazy, and I was also called crazy nice. There's even a chance you might have seen me carrying the Wii around the con searching for Gabe and Tycho.

The DS is going to a friend of mine.

This truly has been the most epic PAX for me so far. Thanks so much to everyone that supported my donation.

See you guys next year!

- Mr. Pulsar

PS: Long post is long. Sorry. XP

PPS: If anyone has footage of the GHII tourneys, please, do send my way. :D

Edit: Here's a pic of me with probably the two coolest cosplayers (in my opinion) at PAX 07!

By the way, I spent the 50 points on Mario Strikers Charged.

Edit: Kotaku did an article on me! LINK

That's really amazing that you did that man, most people wouldn't have done that. That was extremely unselfish. I don't know if you remember me, but I was the first guy you beat (or should I say owned... You had almost twice my score) in the Singles Tourney on Kicked to the Curb.

Hey man, those first rounds were pretty tough, I had gotten really close to loosing a couple times. I have to say you guys all put up a really good fight, most of you probably deserved to win more than I did. I just couldn't hold on to the Wii, had to give back to the people of this awesome convention.

It was fun though, good match man. Enter next year, and practice so you can show me whose boss! :D

Definitely! I was hoping to attend that this year to bid on some stuff myself and help out any way I can. I'd also be interested to see who bids on the Wii. Thanks a bunch man. :D

Oh hell yeah. I was able to try it out a couple times in the exhibition hall, very very fun stuff. I'll probably start putting together a band for it when its released. Thanks a bunch too! :D

That might have been my Wii, unless someone was standing next to him when he signed it. I dropped mine off at the info booth on Saturday night. Tycho was busy at the time but assured me that it would get signed. Thanks for the compliment! :D

Austin, you are a class act. You were awesome at the tourneys, and knowing you took those points you won in those events on something so selfless makes me all the happier you won.

In case you guys did miss it, he mounted a comeback on song 2 of the singles finals after being 45,000+ points behind on Less Talk More Rokk. I was blown away by that.

Thanks for coming! I hope to see you win my GH3 tournament(s?) next year man.

Oh, thanks a bunch man! You did an awesome job taking care of things. I'm really looking forward to either a GH3 or Rock Band tourney next year. I imagine if its GH3, you'll have some 'Through the Fire & the Flames' action going on in the final round. :P

    See you next year man!

One of my friends actually just said I should do more GH tourneys and such, or get 'sponsored' in them. I'd have to say, if I won them, most, if not all the prize/money I got from them would go to Child's Play.

Thanks again for all your support guys.

Man, you and what you did are both awesome. You really are an inspiration to the PA/Child's Play community (-ities?) at large, and acts such as your own help keep the whole grand machine working without becoming polluted by turds. I salute you for an act of charity few would venture to do.

LOOSE END: What did you spend the 50 points for yourself on?

I can see it being a lot easier to give away if you already have a Wii. Either way, good idea.

Hehe, yeah, I remember - I was the one who blew the 45,000 point lead... :x But hey, I couldn't have lost it to a nicer guy. He wouldn't even take the $1.55 that you put on the table for beating me at Jordan, until I demanded he do so!

Anyway, to be honest, playing 6 or 7 straight songs in front of 40-50 ppl (without much of a break) was probably the best part about that tournament, even if I got my ass handed to me in the end. Thanks to Bressler and everyone else who helped put it together, it was a ton of fun.

Hopefully Rock Band will be in the mix next year? I've already got my band up and practicing for it...

    -Adam

P.S. One small suggestion, any chance next year for split-output headphones for the early rounds? To be honest, the first few matches were extremely tough for those who usually play solely based on the audio rather than visually (like myself), since the din was incredible in that room... Thanks!

Whoa, sorry for not replying sooner!

To Backslider: Oh man, you were a fierce opponent, seriously. You'll probably get me good next year. Thanks again, you're awesome.

PikaPuff: I spent the points on Mario Strikers Charged, so yeah I do have a Wii. I guess it was a bit easier to part with it, but I had in my mind before the singles tournament ended that if I won again I would get the Wii to give to someone. The Child's Play idea just sort of came from so many people recommending and ultimately Tycho saying its the kind of stuff they needed.

starsickness: I remember you from PAX05! Look me up on RvB, I'm Pulsar. Thanks a bunch!

Zyzzyvas: Scott Ramsoomair, and Robert Khoo. I was looking around for Gabe and Tycho to have them sign it, but they were busy enjoying the concert Saturday night, but Tycho promised it would be signed by them before it was auctioned off. I also asked Porkfry, and Kiko to sign it if they could. I tried looking for Mike F., but I really have no idea what he looks like, if he reads this, I'd love for him to sign it too.

Da Jackal: Oh man, that round was so intense, I really didn't expect to make a comeback like I did. You were also a fierce opponent, next year I hope to see you again.

EvilBadman: Wow, I really don't know what to say to that. Thanks! :D

    Mr. Pulsar!

Hey man, just had to give a shout to el champion. It was awesome being your partner for the GHII doubles tourney. Was one the nicest surprises of the weekend. Very classy about the Child's Play thing. From all the other pediatricians in Seattle, I can guarantee you that we appreciate it, as do the kids it will benefit. Hopefully we'll meet up next year for GHIII/Rock Band. Come November, I'm setting down the axe for the skins. We'll see how that goes.

Shout out to Bressler: Great work running the event man. Hopefully you didn't kill too many noobs.

    PAX vobiscum,
