I just wanted to say that I had a great time meeting all of you and competing. I think it would be cool if people would just post their thoughts about being an Omeganaut in here. Also, I got to say goodbye to some of you but obviously it was crazy after the final round so to anyone I missed, I hope you had or are having a safe trip home and hope to see you next year. Also, when Rock Band comes out, everyone needs to get it so we can battle on Live...must...get...revenge...
MNC Dover checking in. I'm exhausted from the plane ride back to Georgia, but I'll be checking back in for an update on my feelings on the whole event. I'm thinking a epic rematch reunion of "Photoshop Heroes" vs "Dangling Participles" is definitely in order for PAX 08!

Rock band is a must people. We've got our band names all set, but I wouldn't mind sharing band members and such. All of you guys rocked.
My vid of Round 4 's audio came out all distorted on my tiny hand held camera as we were watching it tonight. I hope someone else got a good filming of it, or that it's on the DVD, cause it was awesome.
A few props to some random 'nauts:
Ryan--mega props to you of course for pulling out the victory--enjoy TGS!
Ben--I think me and Ryan were probably making you more nervous backstage before round 4, but we were just trying to make sure we went out and were as relaxed as possible. If we had to go down, it would be while rocking out! In the end, you were clutch. It was a ton of fun chatting with you this weekend--I'm looking forward to the PAX -related MNC material.
oh and...I can't believe we both missed that drop down move in Puzzle Quest for so long in game 3. I think that game will give me nightmares. All in all though, I had a blast playing with you...we just kept groaning at each other as the skulls would drop. and where was my BLUE MANA??!?!?

Classic! I will echo Dave and say respect for stepping up and rocking those vocals out.
Chelsea--from the first moment meeting at the top of the escalator and then walking up to get our badges, you and your +1 let me know by your open, frinedly nature that I had already made some new friends at PAX. Thanks so much for that. Also, props for your jenga skills! I'll be uploading team B's match sometime this week. It's AWESOME. I couldn't help but applaud for some of your moves, even though it meant I had to go next!
TonyB--you and Dave made my most feared round, Quake, an enjoyable experience. It really did feel like a LAN party--a couple of old buds razzing each other about the back and forth fragging that was going on. Props of course for your role as one of the Photo Shop Heroes, and you and I know the sinking pain that is elimination in round 5. We share a scarred psyche...;)
Finally, Dave--what can I say man. As the runner up from '06, you had every reason to be confident, having done all of this once before. But you handled yourself with an friendly, easy going nature that put the rest of us at ease. Props for being the classiest Omeganaut in the bunch. Hit me up with your gamertag, and we'll get some Rock Band, Halo 3, or whatever up and running this fall.

I had an awesome weekend, and getting to hang out with/meet the other Omeganauts was a huge part of that. Everyone and their +1's were really cool. I liked how it was rare that we would pass each other in the hall without stopping to BS for a couple minutes.
Well, I'm off to work with a full blown case of convention-hangover. (Where you can't think of anything but the convention for several days afterward)
I totally agree about Rock Band. There are so many good games coming out that I want to play, but that one is definitely going to be taking up a lot of my time. My gamertag on live is, you guessed it, Davertron, so feel free to add me. Right now I'm not on a whole lot, although I do get on every now and again to get the shit kicked out of me on Vegas, but I have a feeling once Rock Band comes out you'll be seeing a lot more of me. I think we should put together some Omeganaut teams for the Rock Band tourney that's inevitable for next year.
I have to agree with Ryan, meeting all of the Omeganauts was a total highlight for me. I don't really feel like I got a chance to talk with everyone as much as I would have liked but the people who I was able to talk to were awesome. Even though the Omeganauts are the only people standing between you and the final prize, you're all in it together. That's another great aspect of the event; so far in the two years I competed, almost everyone was super-cool about the whole thing. Before the first year I kind of wondered if people would be aloof because they didn't want to talk to their competition and become friends or whatever, but it was totally the opposite. Leeroy is a great guy and losing to him the first year somehow felt right; I mean, the guy survived to the final round in two Omegathons. If you've gone through one of them you know how stressful it can be and how lucky you sometimes have to get to make it through to any given round, so I give him all the credit in the world. I'm definitely pulling for Ben for next year to do the same. If you need some buddies to practice any of the rounds with when it starts to get close next year definitely hit me up. I'd love to help if I could.
Hey guys, I found some pics on Flikr, including one of the 20 of us before round 1 as well as one of the Photoshop Heroes on stage. I put them on my blog. Check it out!

What a great group we had this year. I am so glad I had such stand up guys to compete with and had a blast doing so all the way to the end. I really need to get everyones e-mails so we can keep in touch and we definitely need to have a Rock Band rematch once it's out! Photoshop Heroes FTW!
Speaking of, anyone find a video of the Rock Band round? All I've seen is some Halo 3 footage.
I would love to see the a Rockband vid also. That was way too much kick ass to not be recorded. I know Altmann took some good picks but he hasn't posted them yet.
P.S. I'm going to make a Photoshop Heroes banner, it HAS to be done.

My friends managed to get a poor quality one of us (sorry Dangling Participles), but the audio is weird. I'm hoping for something on the DVD maybe, or someone else who has a good representation of it.

Yo, checking in from my very boring home in Michigan. Being an Omeganaut kicked ass! I've said this repeatedly to people along the way, but it felt like we were all in one big Nerd Homecoming Court and we were just waiting to see who was going to be crowned King or Queen. Everyone that was involved with it was very nice too. Just think, forever in time we will all be standing together forever the Omeganauts of 07! Hope to see everyone next year. PS: Accalon, you best be rocking out Tokyo. Show them what you're made of!!

That's probably my favorite part about the Omegathon; even though you're competing with everyone else, you're all going up in front of a lot of people to prove that you deserve to win, and that fosters a lot of camaraderie I think. Anyway, I had a blast with you guys and I look forward to hooking up on Live with whoever wants to and seeing as many of you as possible next year. It's so far away!
I had a great time being an Omeganaut this year. I was really impressed how awesome everyone was. With it being a random drawing and all, there was a good chance of some douche bags ending up in the group. Glad that wasn't the case, everyone I talked to was super friendly and made the experience that much more enjoyable. Ryan, kudos on the win. Ben, I'll be rooting for you next year for sure. Anyways, thanks guys for the fun, hope to see you at next year's PAX. Maybe someone will get lost on PSN so I can get in on the Omeganaut Rock Band fun.
Even if I got knocked out in the Girl Killer, I had the best time ever. I was so happy to get to spend time with a group of super nice people, and you know I'll be back at PAX next year. We'll have to have a '07 naut meetup/jenga game/rock off. Just no more Quake 3, evar.
I gotta say the best moment was snagging that point in Calling all Cars and hearing the crowd fucking explode behind me.
Gamertag on XBox is chelseabot, though right now I'm stuck to my metroid prime 3. I've got some pix of round four to post as well, and maybe some video. I'll do it when I'm not at work.

Going to PAX 08 is going to be hard after being an Omeganaut, it's like a having your super powers stripped from you. I'm still totally stocked for it though!
Ha, yeah being an Omeganaut twice is pretty sweet I must say. I think I'm spoiled now from the VIP status though and will have a hard time waiting in lines and stuff next year I'll probably just enter some tourneys and stuff though so I have something Omegathon-esque going on while I'm there. The first year I did the CS:Source tourney which was a decent amount of fun, but I'm definitely thinking a Rock Band team (or a bunch considering how many people there are that want to be a part of it) for next year is a must. Gotta beat those Photoshop Heroes Man....
Yay for more pics/vids Chelsea! My Jenga vid of group B is very cool, and is on it's way. I had hoped to have it up by friday, but it's looking more like early this week. I'll let you guys know. I would love to see highlights from group A's round of doom, but at 90 min, you couldn't fit it all on youtube!
Someone also suggested to me this week that we should try playing with two stacks of jenga blocks to start....craziness!
And I'm sooooo in for Rock Band tourney (I'm sure they'll have it). I'll have to have an alternate band ready for anything official, since Dover will probably be pretty busy rocking the n00b 'nauts from 08. Should be tons of fun.

Being an omeganaut for the second time?
*Looks to Davertron and Dover*
True, true. I'm hoping that I will have the love of the crowd on my side in 08. Kinda like Davertron did this year. I mean really, someone pulls out a Jenga block and there is applause, but if Davertron pulls out a block, the place turns into insanity!
Seriously though, my crew and I are already starting to put plans into motion for next year. We want it to be huge, not only for the site, but for us as well. Also, I will be doing everything in my power to become the 2008 Omegathon champion. It may require sucking dry the last remaining power of past Omeganauts, like stealing your ADAM, but I'm sure you will all be down.
When I get all of our video trimmed into watchable sizes (right now it's like 12 GB's per tape and we have 3 tapes worth), I'll start posting them on our website. I'll try and get the pictures up sooner.

I definitely felt the same way you did about the real battle in Quake 3 being between 8th and 9th place. Hey there guys, finally checking in myself. Just want to say for everyone I didn't get to talk to very much that PAX was a blast and all of you guys were really awesome. I honestly expected at least a couple of you guys to be total douche bags, but PAX continues to impress me with just the general atmosphere it has. I really wish I could have made it past the first round to continue competing with you guys. You were all great.
I agree too that next year is going to be pretty hard after being spoiled with our VIP passes this year. I know some of you guys are press and won't be too phased. We'll have to bug Travis and see if we can use our Omeganaut passes again next year. Not too likely, but worth a shot.
For the sake of the '08 Omeganauts I hope Jenga isn't the first round again. I really thought I heard Travis say they'd never do it again cuz it took sooooooo long, but you never know I guess.
