I came in fourth in the handheld tournament, and saw on the board that they were going to contact the winners by email for their wii. I tried to ask about it at the convention yesterday, but the head of the tournament was busy at the Omegathon. I just want to know when the email/prize is going to come, because I'm anxious to get it.

I'm not too sure just how quick we'll be getting it out. There's a bunch of info to sift through Not to mention I sort of need a nap. If Khoo doesn't mind the emails not being all nice and official looking, the handheld team will most likely get out the emails by the end of this week.
Well this is all hearsay, but I was there when they were comparing the top scorers and came out with a tie for fifth place. They were talking about what to do with six people placing as the top five, and one enforcer said "I guess they will just have to give away six Wiis... or something."
So let me know if that's truth because if so I'm going to be SO upset at placing sixth
Have patience? Everyone is busy for at least 2 weeks after pax, sorting out the mess at the office and the billion post pax things that have to be done.

Which part of it is joking? There was a tie for fifth place. I was half of it.

Technically, my last name is Gordon, not Nelso, but whatever works. Does this mean the emails are forthcoming?

I will most likely PM and/or email everyone tomorrow after work That way the PA staff can have their nice weekend off (finally) and send things sooner!

The new system sucks. Too much time allotted for it. If you want to settle it in a day or a 6 hour block-- fine but the whole convention? No. PAX is so double booked that HDTS doesn't really work. I didn't see a single match outside of the wifi lounge nor did I hear a single person speak of it either. Hirocon won it by essentially camping in the wireless lounge and pretty much missing pax.
I would be much happier seeing friday afternoon to friday late or saturday morning to saturday late and do it in a single day or block and be done with it.
Just my 2 cents. I won't do it next year if you decide to do it all 3 days.
I didn't miss all of PAX. I did see the PA comic panel, plus The Last Starfighter, plus all six complete rounds of the Omegathon. And to be fair I probably went a little overboard with the aggressive button-hunting.

well sorry you were disappointed. i never win anything at pax anyway so i played in the smash event in years past just to get a few intense games in. so for me the HDTS was a huge success because it allowed me to get in some competitive games without taking a huge chunk of my time like the smash bros event always did.
I think they could require button turn in on sat night leaving sunday free for prize pick up. Also I would like to see some more of the smaller button entry fee events like what happed with that ten man tetris game.

Without the handheld tournament, I was still double booked badly at pax. It is frustrating when there is clearly too much in 3 days.
I would love to see this event turn into a 1 day thing and be done with it.
Nefario - we had one of the DHL packets returned to us today because of an incorrect address. Can you send me an email to rkhoo@penny-arcade.com so I can see if it's you? Thanks.
