Shitty animal mascots of 90's: Who was your favorite?

When Sonic the Hedgehog hit the scene, it didn't took long before someone tried to replicate its success. But what was reason for Sonic's success? Was it incredible feel of speed? Highly polished level design? Excellent music? Of course not. Main reason why Sonic succeeded was that it had edgy animal mascot! Or so publishers thought. Soon market was flooded with dozens of videogames that had animal mascots. Each one had edgier mascot than previous, and each one was shittier than previous one. Image below shows most prominent shitty (and few not-really-that-shitty-but-uninspired) animal mascots of 90's.

List of the characters

Chester Cheetah, Bubsy the Bobcat, Sparkster
Radical Rex, Superfrog, Cool Coyote
Zool, Kamikaze the Ninja Squirrell, Mr. Nutz
Awesome Possum, Aero the Acro-Bat, Croc
Rolo, Rocky Rodent, Gex, Jazz Jackrabbit

Who was your favorite? Whose developers should have special place in hell? :)

Hypnotically inclined.

Gex, easily. Dana Gould was a laugh riot - heh heh, Boy George's underpants...classic.

Wasn't there a rodent that attacked enemies with his mohawk? Rocky or Punky or something.

EDITL What about that Socks the Cat game for the SNES? I saw a print ad for it a long time ago but no one ever talks about it. Did Bill Clinton silence the game's critics with the Secret Service?

Chester Cheetah definately deserves a special place in hell for being the lamest mascot ever. And he's not primarily even a video game one.

I have, unfortunately, played his video game though.

I am amazed you listed Awesome Possum.

    To quote Dr. Machineo:

It was Rocky Rodent from IREM. I just noticed that I made typo on the list, and wrote Ricky the Rodent instead. Fixed now. :P

I kinda liked Bubsy, I remember his game being decent.

Jazz Jackrabbit was awesome. The music kind of brought the game out and I liked the cartoons which followed each episode.

Superfrog for the win, his game was actually pretty fun.

Wasn't Oscar (bundled with CD32) some sort of rodent as well?

Yeah, it was easily one of the better AMIGA 500 platformers, but I wouldn't call the main character very inspired.

Well, it is, after all, Radical Rex. Y'know, totally rad. Mega-awesome. Supercool.
