Last thread was a few months ago, it seems to have dived into the depths of Dice and Men and I can no longer find it. Time for a new one?
Here, there be Chess. A game of pieces that move. In the long ago, many D&D folks decided to play Chess, and many merry games were held. A League was set up, and even a tournament was in the works. Now, all has fallen into disarray. I'm not really interested in forming a league or a tournament; There doesn't seem to be enough interest. If you want to take charge of that, go ahead. However, I know there are casual players about who wouldn't mind maeking post, and playing a game.
The medium is Yahoo Chess. Denizens of Debate and Discourse gather in Social Lounge 14.
If anyone wants some humour for this thread, here is the much vaunted "Letterman Defense" which he used to terrible, terrible effect, against goddam Kasparaov.
Additionally, Letterman's Top Ten Moments You Should See Danger In Chess.
#10. There has been a change in the pawn structure. Your opponent has eight and you don’t have any.
#9. Your opponent begins to throw pawns at your eyes.
#8. You have a position won, but your opponent has a gun.
#7. The Director tells you not to bother turning in your score sheet after the game.
#6. Before the game begins you notice your opponent’s first initials are ‘GM’.
#5. After completing your development you sense your opponent is playing the endgame.
#4. Just as you make your opening move your opponent announces mate in 11.
#3. You don’t control any squares at all.
#2. Your draw offer sends all the people watching your game into uncontrollable laughter.
#1. Your opponent has three bishops.
I'll sign up, and you can all see how much of a terrible player I am.
Hey now, what's this "All new Yahoo chess" thing? A new graphic interface? And yet they still have the old one? I hardly ever play there anymore.
Anyway, I like to play chess, and I was still banned during the last D&D tournament chess thread thing so I'll play if we have a new one. The handle is darthmix on Yahoo and Gameknot (and FICS, and redhotpawn and a few others). I guess I'd prefer correspondence play since it's easier to coordinate but if that's frowned upon I'd be down to try and schedule over-the-board games.

We've had chess threads but if it dies here, you can ask a mod to move it. Most of them are not dicks.
I saw that, but I'm pretty sure Thanatos organized the last games in D&D? Could be wrong.
Then he had to move to Washington and that kind of threw everything off.

Just played a dramatic one in the last 45 minutes, barely pulled it out.
