    I also have "Brave New World" (Aldous Huxley) and "It Can't Happen Here" (Sinclair Lewis).

    Its pretty fucked up that these books and the events they describe, which when written served as literary and over-the-top examples of why collectivism/socialism/fascism is so screwed, are now actually pretty damn close to reality in some places.

    I wonder how many people would read those books and even get the damn point. Some of those politicians would probably be like "Oh! What a great idea to save money with our socialized health care! Cameras in everyone's home to make you excersize each morning! Save us from the terrorists and for the children!"
