Wireless Transciever Devices and the Discussion Thereof
The battery dies after one phone call and every time I send a text it thinks that the credit reminder I get every fucking time is a new message and plays the message tone.

Not to sound like a plant, but Helio is pretty damn good for folks who don't tend to use many minutes but use a lot of data. $65 a month for unlimited text, photos, and data, 500 minutes. You can check your available minutes anytime from their site, as well as having an online address book that will sync with the phone.
how does the phone open with a qwerty keyboard and a number pad
it looks like a devilish optical illusion to me
It has a wonderful spring mechanism that feels really solid when you open/close either keypad. The phone is a bit thicker than the average phone.

I still have one of those old Bell Solo phones, that came in a large metal can (interestingly enough, the can can be used to carry an entire original Settlers of Catan game).
also, nuzak, I think I see layers there. top is the screen, middle is the number pad, and bottom is the qwerty pad.

Well, Helio is the phone company, they have about four or five different models phones out at the moment, with the Ocean being the only one with a QWERTY keyboard. It has internet, you can take notes on it, and it has a 2.0 megapixel camera that includes video.
A couple neat features are their 'Ultimate Inbox' wherein you can have access to AIM, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Chat, Gmail, as well as Text/Picture Messaging, as well as setting up POP3 mail accounts all from one screen. In addition, you get an email address tied to the phone that has 'push' mail like a Blackberry, where once an email is received it'll inform you within a minute or two that you have new mail.
On the photo/video front it has integrated functionality with Flickr and YouTube where you can take a photo or shoot a video and have it uploaded to either site within a couple minutes.
Knob, unfortunately it doesn't support Flash at the moment. All the applications on it (Google Maps, Buddy Beacon [GPS locater for friends with supported phones] and a few others) are all Java based apps.
It hasn't had any official 3rd party apps, however some clever folks have managed to begin hacking it to allow some.

okay, sounding good so far
now for the salient points
is there a fullsize foldable bluetooth keyboard for it
can the notes you take on it be transferred to a pc
does it only upload to flickr and youtube, or does it do something actually useful and let you ftp to whatever site you like
Well I payed it, thing is I hadn't received a bill so far until I changed address, I don't know what fake address I gave them...
It's pretty cool, I called them up, bought the phone outright and kept going with the plan.

No keyboard (yet, the phone is only about 4 months old) they've got the Bluetooth file stuff locked down pretty bad right now. My guess is to prevent folks such as ourselves from using it's unlimited data in conjunction with a laptop to turn it into a bluetooth modem.
Unsure about the memo -> PC situation, I'll give that a try this afternoon, but if all else failed you could just use an gmail account or something to send the info to.
No FTP stuff that I've heard of, but I haven't really tried to play around with it.
The browser uses Google Optimizer to try to cut back on the data usage and make pages load faster, but sometimes it can be a pain; thankfully they also have the option to view pages in HTML.

so those pictures aren't very flattering, it looks as big as an etch-a-sketch
something that does internet (with a decent fucking browser with flash and java support) decently
that i can also type things into, maybe with a collapsible bluetooth keyboard and export as text files, or upload to my webspace via ftp
also i guess it would be cool if it made phone calls

Turns out I haven't been paying my bills, any of you guys know anything about faking a death?
No, but I do know a little bit about being responsible!

Be a man, swallow the business end of a shotgun at a daycare and teach the kids a lesson about personal responsibility.

Wow... the daycare or the shotgun?
I avoid them like church.
doesn't seem like it does the main stuff i need out of a device without some dicking around
Yeah, same here. I've been looking at possibly getting a halfway decent PDA with a bluetooth keyboard or a mobile PC for that sort of thing.
because it seems like their data plans are the cheapest and also aren't formulated and promoted to pocket protectors
that new flip looks nice
My roommate's got one and he's pretty happy with it.
