Microsoft is apparently making strong examples of anyone trying to sneak into the Halo 3 Epsilon test. The crackdown came to light when a 17-year-old Minnesotan who goes by the handle "Scar" posted a tale of woe on the forums of the Halo-focused modding site Se7ensins.com. His post was accompanied by a photo of his ban notice from Xbox Live, which expires on December 31, 9999 AD--some 7,447 years after the events in Halo are supposed to take place.
Thats one mighty Banhammer Microsoft has.
I reject your reality and substitue my own !

I think it had campaign stuff in it but you had to be online in Halo 3 Epsilon in order to play it... so there wasn't really an offline side to it.
According to a post I read... this SCAR guy was one of about 100 people all glitching access to it through someones leaked account details on the MS side of things. He's just going to make a new Live account I read as he has 4 XBOX360's on the go the now and the ban is just Username based and not IP or console based.
Still... I had to post it as it's the year 9999... thats a MIGHTY MIGHTY Banhammer. Imagine logging into your account and getting hit by that on your TV set.
By default all XBL permanent bans go to the highest possible date that the system allows, which is the year 9999. Its not like someone at MS decided on that date, no matter how cool it is.
Plus, he got to play a full level of Halo 3 like a month before release. Maybe it was worth it.
So, is just his account banned, or is his account and system banned (I think that's what they'd do to modders on the orginal xbox).
Just his account.
Apparently, well so he says, he has 4 other accounts that still work. And several 360s. Judging by his gamerscore we probably arent dealing with some punk kid here. Im guessing some kind of tech support or store owner or something.
Also, the Halo 3 Epsilon is like the beta, it requires you to be online to play it, even single player, as it streams debug code to bungie.

I laughed. Reminds me of the PA comic about Star Wars Galaxies actually happening before it would be released.
maybe 9999 is just an arbitrary date they put in, so if they plan on deleting the ban once halo 3 is out it doesn't matter when that is, at least as far as expiry goes.
Why doesn't Microsoft think ahead? People will be pissed in the year 10000 when they discover that the date on their Xbox 360 is screwed up. I am glad that Sony is planning for the long haul by having the date on the PS3 go up to nine trillion.
Okay, so the moron gets banned for being.. well, a moron.
What gets me is the fact that he has more 360's and more accounts lying around... and his gamerscore makes Jesus weep... and I thought I had no life.

Why does he have more than two 360s?
Maybe he doesn't have any delicious cake, and needs to compensate for that?
