next they need to make a WH40k RTS with this engine.

    Well, technically, they did.

not on the Essence/Havok 3 engine they didn't.

I trust you were playing on the scheldt map.

yeah, that is a horrible, horrible map. simply godawful.

no room for panzer elite to move, ridonkulous choke points for constant meatgrinding and its very small so artillery owns. You just build 3 howitzers, put them all on the same bridge overwatch and can go out for coffee and the enemy cant do a thing. ludicrously imbalanced towards the brits.

i want them to add in semois or st hilaire for the beta. i think those maps will work well.

Not true about it being a map favored for the brits. The map sucks yes and is horribly designed for a 3v3 but a brit map no, definitely favors any sort of artillery though for either side. Have you not seen the new german artillery, the fucking dirty bastard known as the Hummel? The problem with that map is how easy the shit turns into a Mexican stand off. The brits build their priest and the Germans build their Hummel’s and Marder 3’s and everyone pummels each other through the fog of war.

If its set to be VP it’s a game of who gets the island and turtles up the fastest and bleeds the enemy out, if its annihilation its becomes a test of fortitude and patience.

It is a god-awful map but its shortcomings really lend itself to some incredibly intense close combat and a long stretches of tense mustering of forces for that murderous trek across the island bridges.

The connection issues in the beta are ridiculous.

I haven't been able to play a game yet because of it. I'll probably buy it when it comes out anyway, I liked DoW a lot but I never had a chance to give CoH a spin.

Recent patches fixed a lot of the connection issues and I was playing game after game last night with no issue, check the usual suspects...router/firewall etc etc

I've had a beta key for days now and I still haven't managed to download the damn thing. Fileplanet's useless download manager keeps telling me there're no mirrors available, which is utter bullshit as it's quite content to find a mirror and make me wait for 15 minutes prior to telling me said mirror doesn't really exist...

wow, the FG42 is retardedly imba now. They might as well relabel the button to say "press this to equip squad with rape sticks."

Well it used to be "press this to equip squad with pea shooters". Little bit of an over-buff.

Should get up the Brit stuff later tonight in the OP.

pea shooters? hardly those things were good to begin with. Granted you had to close the distance a bit more than you probably should have, but they worked well all the same.

Now if you attack an FG42 wielding falsch squad with anything wearing boots you will lose

Yea, they were ripping apart my BAR riflemen like it was cake. If they reduced its accuracy while on the movie it would be much more balanced in my opinion.

I was going to make a joke here about putting gigantic boots on a tank but then your comment still applies.

I dunno, the first few times I used them they kind of gave me that "shouldn't have upgraded them at all" feeling. Today though I had one fallschirmjager squards take on three rifleman squads. It was quite awesome.

I think Americans have become the weakest army. Panzer Elite can just spam PzGrens with G43s and tear them apart very early on. If the game makes it past that it is usually an exercise in futility.

So what's everybody's Beta names? I wanna play some games with you people and not risk automatching because I have no idea how both of the new sides play.

I've been trying to download this over Fileplanet, i have the beta key and everything but i can't for the life of me download this faster than around 30kb/s using their download manager. i have a 20mb cable line which i can regularly max out. Fileplanet say they don't throttle their download speeds, but i still can't get anywhere with this. any thoughts?

    Ahh, my bad.

It varies. Automatch works for me and they have been improving it slowly but surely. Most of my connection issues have been improved.

What the hell is up with this game? My loading times are three times longer than that of the original game, even with my settings on low. I don't think it's latency cause I've played against 150 ping people and it's still the same (besides, I don't think ping affects loading times anyway). Then, when the game finally starts, the guy on the other end probably thinks I have a stupid computer and quits. I've only managed to play one real game out of five tries. I don't understand, is this some kind of memory issue?

On the upside, the people quitting have given me four "victories" though...:winky:

Change your settings to high. The beta comes with low-quality graphics and I believe changing the settings messes it up. Silly, I know, but it is a beta.

The beta loads faster for me, although it might be because the graphics are set lower (I'm too lazy to change them).
