Just posted this up, but figured I'd share since it's all wacky.
Developer Alten8 Limited dropped word this morning that it is working with emerging artist Luc Bernard on an upcoming title for the Wii and DS called Eternity’s Child, a highly stylized adventure game that is planned to also be supported through an animated series, as well as a line of toys and other merchandise.
According to a statement announcing the title, Eternity’s Child is based on a planet that was once filled with many living creatures and vast forests, however due to the pollution created by the habitants the icebergs melted and the whole planet was flooded and most of the creatures became extinct. The creatures without wings that were left became jealous of the ones with wings (that allowed them to survive the flooding), so the land creatures started murdering all the winged creatures until there was none left. To repopulate the world, many mechanical robots were created so that the world would not seem as empty as before, but most of those creatures got out of control and started attacking and destroying what was left.
The game’s main character, Angel, was left at the door of a orphanage when he was a baby. In addition, as a means to protect him from being murdered his wings were cut off. As years passed he stayed in that orphanage, not accepted by the other children and being often tortured and picked on. As the game begins, Angel escapes from the orphanage to try to find any remaining creatures of his species and hopes to be accepted by them despite him not having his wings.
Interestingly, according to Bernard, the game is based on just one of several “dark fairytales†he has created, each of which “takes inspiration from his life.†A quick glance at
his MySpace page gives us a clearer picture of the forerunner for the emo-of-the-month award. Even so, the game does look impressive, with the Wii version offering completely hand drawn graphics and animation, compared in a statement to the style of classic Disney films.
Eternity’s Child will also feature an orchestrated soundtrack, as well as two player cooperative support. Looking at the screens, am I the only one getting a
Bob the Angry Flower vibe?
Finally, while fewer details have been released regarding the DS version, Alten8 officials note that it will be a 3D platform game, and will feature an entirly sperate story to that of its Wii counterpart.

Why must good themes in games always be ruined by cliches?
On the right .. how come there's a naked lady with no head holding her hands above her head while disguised as a tree? It really IS like classic Disney!
I really like what they're trying to do, but honestly, the story sounds like a bit TOO much. Not only that, I don't really like this art style. Oh well, hopefully it'll open the way for other games in the hand-drawn style.
Shame the gameplay and characters look fucking awful.
it was origionally going to be on XBLA, but they moved it to the Wii, citing the 150MB size limit as the reason.
I think the music is awesome. It might tempt me to buy the game. But you're right the jumping looks... uninspired. Oh well... I'm sure it can't be $50... Right?
It's so much better than this.
Agreed. The backgrounds look great. The game takes a turn for the worse once you see it in motion. Jerky animation, uninspired character design hugely contrasts with the amazing and detailed environments.
Which I think might be the more interesting story here. I think the size limit is going to bite Live in the butt in the long run. Not that the Wii has a perfect implementation of this sort of thing, but independent games on consoles are going to need room to grow.
150MB is already tripled from what it was before. I think that's plenty of space for a $10 game. It's true that XBLA isn't really built to offer full games like Warhawk, but I wouldn't be surprised if online distribution like Steam is a major feature of the next gen.
A combo system, an item system, some more interesting enemies/patterns, whatever; something.

$10 game, sure, but independent doesn't have to mean small, especially depending on if someone can get an affordable yet robust engine running.
It could still turn out good thou.
