Hi, long time listener first time poster for advice. I have a verizon model 327w wireless router and my wii for whatever reason will not connect to it wirelessly (it goes to testing the connection and then fails). I saw on a google search there is something about channels? for the wireless router to be on, but I dunno anything about networking I just plug stuff in. Any help would be appreciated!

I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

Nintendo has a whole site dedicated to helping you setup your wi-fi connection:

    http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/online.jsp

    That should get you going

Thanks for that, one of my primary problems is that a lot of the sites mention checking my routers settings, when I got it, it didn't really come with a booklet or anything, I tried updating the firmware as one site recommended but when I tried to run the program it mentioned something about tcip? not set up? I really don't know this stuff that well. For reference I have windows vista home edition, though I have an xp comp connected I could try setting it up with.

I just want to avoid having to buy that dongle, especially since I'd have to run it through my xp machine and not my vista.

Well, the first thing we'd need to know is the brand and model of router you have, that'll at least get started on if it even works with the Wii. ;-)

Yeah, so that didn't help so much.. I was hoping to find a user manual to figure out the specifics on the router... but the Westell site says to contact verizon for any support issues.

If you know the IP address of your router (probably a 192.168.x.x of some sort) you can get into the settings to fiddle around there some. Sorry I couldn't help more. >.<

Is there a way to find my routers ip adress? Sorry I am completely dumb when it comes to this stuff.

    Nintendo's got your back:

    http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/routers/en_na/Westell/P-327W/index.jsp

If you've haven't you should really set a WPA or WEP password.

Well, it's probably set up as default, so something like 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 should work, so you could try those.

One of them should be the router, one should be the modem. I don't know what the default password would be on your router, but it should be in the manual for the router, and the IP address should be there too if neither of the ones I listed work.

EDIT: Holy moly that's cool, yay for Nintendo!

Yeah no problem, I would follow the "Settings Needed For 'Search For An Access Point' " instructions. That's how I've always set up when I move the Wii around, never had issues that way.

There should be a reset button on the outside of your router that you'd have to push with like... a ballpoint pen, it'll set everything back to default. But if someone else set up your router for you, it'd probably be less of a hassle to ask them if they changed the password.

I don't remember anyone doing anything to my router, but I would just worry about it screwing up my net connection.

    EDIT:

I did the reset, still can't get in to router itself, frustration!
