So, these little buggers keep climbing through the cracks of the windowsills in my apartment. Apparently they like to sneak into warm places when the nights start getting cold. They aren't particularly malignant, but are annoying -- especially when they crawl on me while I am sleeping. :S And there are at least two or three new ones each day.
I went through the same thing last year, but just kind of stuck it out, and they go away after a few weeks. But I ended up cleaning dozens of dead bugs and bug parts from my windowsill, and it was goddamn disgusting.
They can smell nasty when you squish or try to pick them up with a napkin, so I've been sucking them up with the vacuum. Anyone have any tips to deal with this? I'm going to try to cover up the cracks they are crawling in from, but maybe there is a good repellent?
We've been getting them in South Eastern PA for like 4 or 5 years now. Never really had them before that. Thanks China!
I can't stand the damn things. I don't get too many in my house. Maybe a couple a day and pretty much only in the spring. I've just picked them with a paper towel one at a time without squashing them, thrown the bundle in the trash, then smash the bullshit out of the balled up paper towel so they don't try to come crawling back out.
How cold is it getting? Could you just open the windows and let the cold air kill them?
At my dorm last year, bugs that had got in were living in our warm living room. One winter day we just opened every window and door for several hours and it seemed to kill them all.
