I've found out I rather enjoy talk radio and since I inevitably do about an hour of driving each day I was curious what podcasts could be recommended to me. I listen to PA's, Sarcastic Gamer, NPR Debates, and plan to add 1UP Yours today, but I'd like to get more general news on my iPod along with any particularly interesting or enjoyable podcasts you might know. I'd prefer any show last roughly 20 minutes or longer as that covers my commute to work each day.

H/A go.

This Week in Tech (TWiT) is an enjoyable one that focuses around technology (hurrr). It's hosted first and foremost by Leo Laporte, which is reason enough right there.

Chicago Public Radio's "This American Life" with Ira Glass. I love that program more than I love any tv show. well, not quite as much as the office. But it's still amazing.

I don't know if they have an actual podcost on itunes, they might... but you can download each weeks program for free for up to 1 week after the week it airs.

You can get it from here: http://thisamericanlife.org/ Just "save as" the "get free mp3" under "last week's episode". Seriously, it's amazing.

edit: to describe it more thoroughly to you, This American Life is a 1 hour broadcast of stories of Average and Amazing American lives. The website describes it as:
We're not a news show or a talk show or a call-in show. We're not really formatted like other radio shows at all. Instead, we do these stories that are like movies for radio. There are people in dramatic situations. Things happen to them. There are funny moments and emotional moments and—hopefully—moments where the people in the story say interesting, surprising things about it all. It has to be surprising. It has to be fun.
    -from http://thisamericanlife.org/About_Radio.aspx

double edit: i'm so in love with this show that I'm now looking up everything I can on it. They also came out with one season of a tv version, which is exactly the same as the radio version but with moving pictures. I havnt really seen it yet except for previews, but you can get a small taste of it here: http://www.youtube.com/talwithiraglass That's also a good example of the radio show. just imagine it without the images.

I 2nd the suggestion of "This American Life" and it's #1 on the most popular podcasts in iTunes so it's easy to find there.

Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier have a podcast called Smodcast. Every episode is very good if you're into Kevin Smith's brand of humour.

Never Not Funny is very good, it's hosted by Jimmy Pardo and a friend with a different guest every week.

Diggnation is great, which is a recap of some of the top stories on Digg.com hosted by Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht.

If you're into Sports, Primetime Sports with Bob Mcgowen is good.

The PC Gamer podcast is solid.

I also second This American Life and TWiT.

TWiT is amazing. I heart TWiT so hard. Kevin Smith has a podcast? I bought a dvd that is 2 hours of Kevin Smith talking and loved it. I must find this.

The Kevin Smith/Scott Moiser "SModcast" is defiantly my favourite (though Moiser has been unavailable a few times and replaced by people like Kevin's wife and other friends from his movies) It's very nicely done, with background music and such, and really it's listening to a conversation between two or more friends, and one of them is Kevin Smith.

The Star Wars podcast by TheForce.net and Reblescum.com (TheForceCast) is better than you might think, so long as you like Star Wars. They talk about EU a bit but I think a lot of it is more about collecting, which I don't even do much. They talk about Indian Jones 4 and The Force Unleashed quite a bit. The hosts are a couple of funny guys and a lot of the appeal is in-jokes and stuff they latch onto and keep bringing up (like which of the Lars family is more grizzled)

I recommend the GFW Radio podcast. I don't do much PC gaming, but they really don't talk that much in detail about PC gaming as they do gaming in general. They also have the Hero of the Web (they pick a hilarious mesage board post from somewhere on the internet and do a funny vocal interpretation of it) and very often go off on tangents that are hilarious, so it's not all about gaming either.
