The Graphic Whore Screenshot Explosion Thread*nsf56k*
So lately I have been seeing more and more screenshots of games coming out, or that have already been released that just blow me away. Growing up on gaming as im sure many of you did I never envisaged things looking the way they are now already. I find it….exciting.
I am as much of a graphics whore as the next guy and appreciate just how far we’ve come. I see this thread as a way to share and even celebrate beautiful graphics, no matter what the platform..
Some may find it shallow, but visuals and artistry make up a huge portion of any game experience. Feel free to post some examples you can think of, whether its technical achievement or pure digital art that brings a tear to your eye in a game.
Some of my favourites:
Halo 3 - 360
Bioshock - PC/360
NHL 08 - 360
Enemy Territory – Quake Wars
Motor Storm – PS3 *now with added gameplay, sorry guys my mistake*
Whats glorious is that every single thing on that map is represented ingame. If I could find a screenshot of a character levitating high up above the island and looking down, it would be the exact same thing.
Oops. Lets not turn this into an argument or anything. I just wanted to show off some of my favorite old "pretty" games.
Grim Fandango, The Dig, and Curse of Monkey Island are all more examples of greatly beautiful games. I just couldn't find good screenshots of them to show.

Oh, and I love these shots so I keep coming back to them.
These aren't mine as I never owned this game, but they look great. The game is Grand Prix 4, which was okay on its own, but thanks to the mod community it really shines.

But anyhow, to the good man who said how ugly PS2 visuals are now, I would like to direct him to Metal Gear Solid 3 and SotC.
Granted, technically they aren't very advanced, but like someone said up there, it's not all about polygon counts or resolutions!
Agreed. 2d games can be among the most beautiful. Let them never die.

I should go dig up some screenshots, never managed to successfully post a picture here though.
