Creating a website.

So, I've decided to make a photoblog type of site, since flickr is getting kind of boring.

I'd like to create a simple, but aesthetically pleasing site that I can use as a reference for jobs and such later in life.

What kind of work am i looking at? Am I going to have to study html for hours?

I know nothing about HTML, or the whole website creating business.

An example of what I'm going for is something like

this

Also, I'm on a very low budget, if that matters. I'm a student and I'm not looking at buying premade sites or hiring someone to make one for me.

thanks

Looks like you will need javascript, css, html and whatever language you want to write the backend in (presumable php).
Also, you will need a host that will allow you use all of this (specifically php).
