Imitation Art (56k)

I have grown up in a family of artists, which leads to art books and paintings spread far and wide across my house. One of my favorite things to do is imitation art. I basically copy the greats, while trying to keep some of my own style in theres. (that sentence made less sense in type).

Anyways, after a little bit of lurking I have seen plenty of incredible art, but little imitation art. Obviously imitation art is less original and in some ways lots easier than something that is completley of your own creation. That aside, I find it to be very interesting, and often very cool.

Anyways, Ill post one of my own, and hopefully some of you('all) will follow suit:

Jackson Pollock

i had to make one of these for class once. i was pissed the whole time. i hated it. also, how does one keep his or her style in paint splatters, i really see nothing original.

i once did my own version of starry night, but of my own neighborhood, but i lost it years ago T_T

Well, when you look at Pollock's originals, you can see a striking difference.

yeah but polluck went crazy with his stuff. He would throw practically anything he could find in his front yard into the paint, like sand, nails, etc.

I think his stuff is probably more aesthetic, I'm pretty sure he thinks about what he's doing before he does it.

yeah, i don't personally dig pollack's stuff, however his pieces as a whole convey a very strong understanding and application of the formal study of color.
