Cash from Debit card?

Instead of being paid in "cash" I got some of these $75.00 Mastercard "debit" card.
(They are called 'ecount')

They said it's a debit card, but if I used it in the store I should choice 'credit' on their machine.

For all intents and purposes it looks like and works like a credit card, but I can only "charge" up to $75.00 on it. Anything over will get declined.

What I would like to do is just get the money off them.

I have a paypal account and thought I could 'buy' something from my self, but they won't let me just put in a number without creating another account (also if I did that, then I would have to report the income 'twice' on my taxes which would suck).

Any other way I could get money from these cards? I tried an ATM machine, but the cards don't have pin numbers on them so it doesn't work.

That sounds like a pre-paid credit card, which is not a debit card. And no, you won't be able to easily get that money off without a transaction fee.

Just use them for gas and groceries until they're run out.

You could also jsut use them when making a big purchase. Just tell the cashier that you can only spend 75 bucks on this card and pay the balance with something else. I get them all the time for my birthday and x-mas and this is what I do.

You could also theoretically buy a gift certificate to somewhere with it?

Whenever you buy something at a store with a prepaid card like that you should always be able to pay the remaining balance on whatever you buy (if the total sends you over your $75 limit) with some other form of payment...it works the same as a gift certificate i think

Thanks and thanks. Those are good ideas to get "all" the money from the card.

    I guess I'll do that.

Sell them to a friend, if you can.

As a checkout fellow, I say this.

    - Find item you want
    - Take it to checkout
    - Say "Could I pay $75 on this then the rest cash?"
    - Perform above
