[SCRIMP ON] Buy-2-get-1 free deal on ALL GAMES at US Toys R Us [ends 9/22]

Thanks to the lovely lads at CAG: In a surprise attack, it looks like Toys R Us decided to drop their annual "Buy 2 Get 1 free" deal early this year.

From today through Sept. 22 (Saturday) at US Toys R Us locations, buy two games and get a third one free.

This applies to ALL games, so if you buy three sets of Guitar Hero 2 360 bundles, you can save $90. Obviously it's before the supremely heavy hitters launch in the Q4 crush, but there's still plenty of good stuff out there and best of all, you can mix-and-match consoles. It's still leaking out, but TRU locations should have some signage up. Standard B2G1 rules apply: It's only the cheapest game out of the trio, YMMV, etc.

I was looking to buy Eternal Sonata, Stranglehold and Skate, but my TRU hikes prices up quite a bit so I'm unsure if it's really worth it. Toys tends to leave prices pretty high, but it's a great deal if you're looking for newer stuff that's going to be full price anyway. Note that this has only been verified for the U.S.; I'm unsure if this applies to Canada, but apparently stores just put signs up today and this kind of came out of left field. There's also an online component, but it's only for select games.

Now proceed with cursing my name because you can't afford this right now!

EDIT: Looking around, it seems like not every store has signs up. Try it out and see if the games scan for the B2G1 deal, but it's a your-mileage-may-vary deal for now.

The TRU website says on select video game software. Is it on all games in store and only select games online?

Good move dodging Halo and a few other big October titles.

Precisely. TRU generally runs this sale once a year; it's restricted online, but in-store it's usually for everything available. I went to the one at Times Square in NYC about an hour ago and there were signs up everywhere.

The web site deal lists as eligible:

Atelier Iris 2 and 3, Odin Sphere, GrimGrimoire, Luminous Arc, and Aedis Eclipse.

I can never resist when I see an NIS/Atlus game in the bargain bin. I'm just saying.

Funny. Closed last night in the R'zone and there was no announcement about this in Sales Machine or the managers mailbox.

Make sure you ask for one of the "Are you smarter than a fifth grader" game pieces before your purchase to knock off an extra 10%

Clearly no one wants free games. :(

CAG is swarming all over it today; I think most places are putting up signs now. I'm still debating if I'm going to pull the trigger on Skate / Eternal Sonata / Stranglehold, but then part of me wonders if I should take this time to grab GH2 for 360.

Darn it, I really want to take advantage of this and get some Wii stuff, but I won't have any $$ until Friday. I hope it holds up until then, I really want to get Godfather, SSX and something else for only $60 total!

I just realized that Dewy's Adventure allegedly comes out this week, too.

Also, CAG is reporting that there's a "buy one gaming accessory, get a second one at 50 percent off" sale both in-store and online, which is also just as awesome. This means you can get:

    • two Wii Points cards for $30
    • two Wiimotes for $60
    • 360 HD-DVD Player and 120GB HD for $270, etc.

Although now that I realize I can use Wii Play as a game, I might just buy Eternal Sonata and two copies of Wii Play, then sell the second disc on eBay or trade it in, getting two Wii controllers for $50. :)

Did I just word the subject strange, or is this not as big of a deal to everyone else?

It would be a igger deal if I was not pretty much caught up on my desired games. I usually hit this every year. I think they normally do it in October, but this Fall seems to be a saturated one.
