Live update. Not much yet.
"I think with PS3 we took a very important first step" in moving PlayStation forward.

"Since I took up my current position, I've been telling my people that we need to go back to basics at SCE."

The fact that Midnight Club 3 and GTA are the major sellers on the PSP makes me very sad. Very sad indeed.

Don't go expecting huge announcement, it's a keynote not a press conference. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't announce anything at all.

Last year Ken went on and on about how theoretical crap and it wasn't until right after the keynote they announced that HDMI would be in the 20GB PS3 and that they'd be dropping the PS3 price in Japan.

Edit: Oh and conference is spelt with an 'e' not an 'a'.

    Formal Dualshock 3 announcement.
    Also, Sony now owns Evolution.
Originally they thought it would be very difficult to have tilt and rumble. "We have been able to overcome this difficulty."
    (:
"We have not made any changes to its outward appearance and design, but it does have vibration." Japan: Nov 2007, US/Europe: Spring 2008.

    Yay.

    Spring 08? You bastards.
We'll be able to see and experience DualShock 3 on the show floor today. It's used by the likes of MGS4, Devil May Cry 4, Echochrome, Toy Home, Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted.
    Very nice.

I'm glad to see that Sony is working hard on getting more developers, getting them more help with making games and marketing, and overall just trying to get some good games made. The device would be worth its stupid price if there were some great games.

He's going to show something called "Dress" - "Everybody's Fashion Entertainment", which appears to be part of Home.

    14:11.47 -
He's just talking about it, not showing it - or going into it or anything. It was originally scheduled for this year, he says, but it's been delayed - it's due in spring next year instead "so we can truly meet the needs and feedback of the users".

    14:11.34 -
PlayStation Home. Ooh, nice icon. Like a house with a bit hanging off the bottom.

    14:10.31 -
He's coming back to the thing with the cat that the Japanese seem to enjoy getting their news from using PS Network. New bits for that are being lined up by the sound of it.

    14:09.22 -
"We are quite happy having so many users joining us," he says. One exciting announcement to make here, he says. GT5 Prologue disc and network distribution will be on 13th December in Japan.
So, GT5 on the 13th of December in Japan and Home is delayed.

Now he's going to talk about the PlayStation Store. He reckons it's "exploding". 30 PS3 titles, 300 add-on items, 100 game archives and 90 demo movies on the Japanese store.
    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO for the add-on items.
Anyway, the Store. We're going to be able to access it using the PC as of today.
    Good, good.

Nope, Unco-ordinated called it, just a review of stuff we already knew. I guess rumble was supposed to be the big 'surprise', but hell, we've known that was coming since Sony settled with immersion.

Still don't like the Spring of '08 release though. Think it'll affect the holiday sales?

I dig the use of media on the HDD in the apartment. Your movies on the TV (I'll have Eraserhead running), your music on the hi-fi, your pictures in the frame, it all sounds pretty neat to me.

I just watched that Afrika video, and if I had to guess it looks like some kind of exploration/photography game.. you can see the blue-shirt male character crouching in the bushes and taking pictures in one part. Pokemon Snap in Africa?

i'll say by this point, Home is too late even if it isn't too little. Bringing it out within a year of the console's launch might have given them the opportunity to establish it as a brand name but I don't see how it'll be able to compete with Live in terms of mindshare if its released so late.

Guek, you underestimate free vs. $50 a year. Granted, $50 a year isn't much at all, but it doesn't mean it won't be looked at as a lot by others.

That's just what Ninty wants you to think.

Their super-secret conference is actually in 5 days, when they'll say "Sonic in Brawl, Force Unleashed going to kick ass and be developed by main publisher specifically for Wii, Mega Man in Brawl, Bomberman in Brawl, Simon Belemont in Brawl, Firefly game for the Wii, Stargate game for the Wii, Farscape game for the Wii. Have fun playing your Halo 3. You'll come crawling back to us soon enough "

I really liked the new multimedia stuff they announced. PS3 to PS3 playback? COOL. PSP remotely powering on the PS3? COOL.

    Home delayed?

Well, look kids - this could mean that we get the features that we want in Firmware 2.0 and not have to wait for stupid Home.

We basically want Live, right? Home is just icing on that cake, right? Well - why not a firmware update then? Let them take their time on Home.

/see, I can say that cause I already have Xbox and Live... So, it's like built in patience.
