Warm those broadband connections. The Devil May Cry® 4 playable demo hits both the PLAYSTATION®Store and Xbox LIVE® Marketplace this Thursday, January 24, 2008. Devil May Cry 4 has been rated M for Mature by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB).
The demo introduces gamers to the gothic-inspired supernatural world of Devil May Cry 4, new protagonist Nero and the awesome power of his Devil Bringer. The demo consists of a sampling of sections from the full game, chosen to showcase Devil May Cry 4's varied locales, allowing gamers to familiarize themselves with Nero's unique abilities. Players will receive instruction on the various new actions that the Devil Bringer bestows, such as the ability to slam creatures to the ground, cover great distances in a single bound or even grab enemies while on the ground or in the air and pull them towards Nero to continue an attack combo. The Exceed system allows Nero to "rev up" his sword as if it were a motorcycle throttle and unleash devastating attacks. Players will need to master all these techniques before the end-of-demo showdown with the mighty Berial.
Fully demonstrating the power of the next generation of consoles, the Devil May Cry 4 demo brings to life the coastal city of Fortuna and its surroundings in exquisite detail, such as the port and the snow-capped mountain ranges. Devil May Cry 4 delivers its intense action at a constant 60 frames per second at 720P resolution on HD monitors, ensuring seamless and breathtaking gameplay in stunning high definition.
I hope this isn't frowned on, but I'm going to link to an OP on a different forum because it's so jam packed full of information and pictures that I'm much too lazy to put here, and I don't want to just steal their hard work. So, if it is frowned on just PM me and I'll get rid of the link as soon as I read it.
Lady lost the clown shoes? YES. She is now officially hot.
Also, I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS GAME. There are so many fine action games out these days, and it doesn't look like that'll soon end (Ninja Gaiden 2, this, the inevitable God of War 3).
I just have to decide which system to get it for. On the one hand, the 360 version has achievements. On the other hand, I have the entire rest of the DMC series on the PS3. Hmm.
I thought this game was going to be terrible? Developed by the DMC2 guys and all.
Still hopin', though. I still play DMC3 whenever I need to relax.
No, I believe it's made by a mixture of the DMC 1 and 3 people (I know for sure the director of 3 is directing this one, and the producer of 1 is producing this one). And I don't know where you heard the game was going to be terrible...

The only negative aspect of the game is, like MGS2, taking the main character, the one we want to play as and replacing him with an almost carbon copy for no real reason except to introduce this gay new devil arm aspect. What's the point of replacing him with someone who's just as strong, just as fast, uses the same weapons, same techniques, looks the same, dresses the same? Gah. Its just some shitty attempt to open it up to people who havent played before so they can jump in and feel they're getting in on the ground level with a fresh new story and character.

It's not really a replacement when you're going to play as Dante as well. Also, the reason for the devil arm is one of the main guys behind the game wanted the game to focus more on air combos. Also, he only has one real hand so his gunplay will be much slower but more powerful. The sword is supposed to feel much different from Dante's techs with the engine in it or whatever.

But really, its nothing they couldn't have given to Dante as a new weapon. If the old games are anything to go by you won't be using the initial sword much for a while or after a while depending on the unlockables and the method for switching weapons.

I agree, but I'm sure they don't want the formula to get stale, for the players or the designers. A new character, while keeping the old, seems like a good plan. I also wouldn't be surprised if Vergil popped up in the game (and from old concept art, he probably will with a great design).

Actually, they're saying Nero won't be getting new weapons, but rather new powers for his devil arm. Dante, meanwhile, will be getting new weapons and the like.
And yes to the Devil May Cry anime feeling a little weak. I enjoyed it, but the ending was a major anti-climax, and it just didn't feel as exciting or as energetic as the games.

Oh god yes,the ending was so bad. "here is this world destroying demon power, no one can stop it. oh, her comes Dante and laughs it off, killing the mega demon with one hit".
Also, I enjoy that there are two characters now. And the big difference to MGS2 is that we actually get to play BOTH in the story.
I don't like how Nero is portrayed stronger than Dante in the trailers. i know it's probably to hype people up and start speculations but it still feels a bit stupid.
Well, technically, you did play as both Snake and Raiden in MGS2. The problem was you only played Snake in the intro, which was like 20 minutes of gameplay. And really, there isn't much difference between Snake and Raiden with gameplay in any case (until the last few minutes of the game with the new weapon).
I also dislike the whole Nero thing, mainly because he looks exactly the same. Seriously, there's some shots in the trailer(mainly when they focus on the face or really far away) when I can't tell one from the other.
And isn't Dante suppose to be able to switch between his different styles or something really cool like that? I remember reading something that made me really excited about it.

Yeah, I believe I read that there's on the fly style switching.
Me too. I was pretty unimpressed with some of the early trailers that showed Dante/Nero fighting some boring looking enemies in a boring-looking snowscape, but some of those bits from the trailer are absolutely amazing.
Holy shit it's good to be a fan of brawlers/scrolling beat em-ups right now,Ninja Gaiden 2, Ninja Gaiden DS and now this to look foward to even more. Only DMC3, Ninja Gaiden and God Hand really stand out as superb 3d brawlers (God of War 2 is an awesome game but it's not exactly for it's combat system) and now we get 3 superb looking ones coming out within the span of a year.
I'm going to finally try and beat Dante must Die in DMC3 and finally finish DMC in anticipation for this.
Everyone is saying "oh man I hope the guys who made DMC 2 don't make this one"
Except that they are the guys who made both DMC 2 and DMC 3
Frankly I would rather have had them in charge of this game, rather than the studio that did DMC 1. I imagine they will follow the same lines as DMC 3 anyways, of course.
Another addition to the list of STAGGERINGLY OBVIOUS THINGS THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE RULES
Don't post gifs or images that have enormous filesizes unless the thread is marked NSF56k. DICKHEADS.
Also there is some confusion so to make it absolutely clear
posting a NSFW or enormous image in spoiler tags is not ok. You will be treated as though you posted them normally. The images still load.
Tube doesn't jail either. He serves bancakes. Just a friendly warning.
I'm having some concerns that they are making the same mistakes they made in DMC2. In particular, the environments are larger and more open and the guns do more damage and cause knockback.
Thanks for the warning. Maybe a mod could edit NSF56k into the title if the images in the OP are also too big, since I can't edit the title for whatever reason.

Loved DMC 3 though, so who knows.

Having both NG2 and DMC4 in 2008 is going to be awesome.
In the end they said there is an "outbreak of demons in a certain country" and Dante, Trish and Lady all leave to slay the demons.
So basically, they arrive in DMC4 and kick the shit out of everything.
huh
I believe there's also a manga for DMC3.
And Lady, goddamn

The anime really isn't very good (well, the visuals are nice) especially the story is SO weak it's pathetic.
Still fun to watch Dante slice through stuff though.
You'd think so until after the 20th demon that can be defeated just by Dante slicing it in half. Oh and the NOT using his devil trigger once. Jesus.

I don't know, maybe they use the d-pad for weapons and styles. Up and down for styles, left and right for weapons.
