Name that Game: PC only 2D Spaceship Combat

I remember playing a demo of a 2d spaceship game that was pretty good.
It played similar to Geometry Wars or Asteroids. It was released within the last 5 years. I think it was for the PC only.
I think the "story" was that you were part of a crew in an experimental ship and you got warped to some unknown part of space. Aliens come by and you have to defend yourself.
You could upgrade ship engines, shields and weapons.
The graphics for the in between parts of the combat were cartoony but the game was pretty fun overall.
Anyone know the name of this game? I think it only cost $20 but I was too cheap at the time. Sorry for the slim details. If anyone knows of any search sites for this kind of stuff that would be good too.

Yes. Thanks. Im gonna go buy it now. It was really fun. Sometimes I dont want to play Wow, Guild Wars, Metroid Corruption, or you know my freaking Team Fortress 2 download doesn't work and I'm tired of trying to fix it.
