Printing from Adobe apps on a GDI printer

I have a color laser printer that can generate some really nice looking output. Unfortunately, it has no Postscript support, so while I get great output from low-end software, my Adobe applications—Indesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, etc.—churn out some really ugly stuff. Is it possible to get high-quality GDI rendering from these apps using some configuration tricks?
