It's difficult to do, but don't put wire greater than the receiver's reccommended Ohm reading. Usually receivers come with self tests for this. For instance, don't put a quarter inch thick copper wire on your 30 watt output line. It just won't sound good.
Exactly. Monoprice has even better prices. 100' of 18 gauge is only $6.55. 100' of 16 gague is $13.85. There should be no cost reason for having to do a messy splicing job.
