The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
All you can ethically do here is to call and plead your case, so give it a shot. Start off polite and courteous when you call, but be prepared to get irate if you need to. "Could you pleeeease help me" is pretty unlikely to work with an insurance company, a lot of their folks are up there with the KGB in soullessness. You might need to escalate your approach to "Jesus, it was less than two weeks while I was changing providers, do you want my business or not?"
My insurance provider is the only place I've caught fewer flies with honey.
Also, fraud is never okay, but man... insurance companies make their livins' off of catching people in trivial mistakes that can be used against them to deny claims. You may get away with it in the short term (unlikely), but the first time you NEED your insurance policy, you'd better believe they'll be going over your data with a fucking magnifying lens. Don't even entertain that notion.
