Bad (no) driver support for an old compaq keyboard?

So I've got this old Compaq keyboard that has a PS/2 plug. The computer I'm using right now doesn't have that port, so I acquired a PS/2>USB converter to plug it in. It isn't being recognized, only as a "Unidentified USB Device." Every time I press a key on it, the little balloon pops up in the corner saying "USB Device Unrecognizable." I'm having difficulty locating plain keyboard drivers on Compaq's website. Does anyone know what I could do in order to use this keyboard?

You could probably get a new Compaq keyboard for what you spent on the converter. I would suggest returning that converter and just getting a new keyboard.

The keyboard is pretty beat up and I got the converter for free from a friend. I'll probably just go buy a new keyboard, then!
