Seeing as i live in Australia, and my old man is one of those old surfing hippy types, i want to get into some ocean "Sports". We figure i should look at starting off with a BodyBoard to learn with. Once i was comfortable with that I'd move up into using one of his boards and get the whole standing up thing going on.

The question is, Can anyone recommend a Bodyboard for a total beginner? I weigh about 70kg (155lbs) and am 5'6.

Total beginner? Head down to your local shop (it's Oz, they're everywhere) and buy one of the cheaper ones there. Despite being a beginner, if you think you'll be doing it for a while, get yourself one of the higher end boards at the shop. Quality bodyboards come without a leash installed by default, so if you go the nicer route you'll want to buy one and put it in. BZ bodyboards are decent, as are your average Morey boards. Aus. will be a bit different in the brandname department, so just go down to the local board shop and ask.
