I have some things I'd like to get rid of via eBay. Like any seller, I would like to attract as many bids as possible and maximize my profits. What things can I do to make my auctions look more appealing? Is it true auctions ending at certain times get more bids than others? Is there anything important I should know but probably don't?

I've heard that ending your auctions on Sunday evenings will get you the best success, and so far all my auctions have sold at reasonable prices when I end them on Sunday. (Can't really compare since I haven't had any non-Sunday auctions, tho).
As a seller you'll be the last person to send feedback. The order goes: End of auction, buyer sends payment, seller sends item, buyer receives item and leaves positive feedback, seller leaves positive feedback. Don't give them feedback just b/c they pay you or else there won't be anything to keep them from just giving you bad feedback for no reason.
In general, just be honest. Other people will appreciate it and it will get you a lot farther then trying to swindle people, even if it's legally.
Also, if you have any expensive items you want to sell, hold off on them until you have some successful smaller sales. People will be more willing to risk higher bids on big items if you have a seller rating than if you just come onto the selling scene fresh and try to unload a laptop.
