So, while playing WOW on Saturday, I started getting random shut downs on my Mac Book Pro. It wouldn't boot back to desktop, it would just turn off. It now happens every time I play WOW, after like, ten minutes it just shuts off. Anyone know a possible cause of this?
I'm going to take it to the Geek Squad in a few, just because the Apple Store is like, 2 hours away, but if you all know a possible solution... I have a laptop cooling fan underneith it, so I don't know if that is enough to keep it from overheating, but it is there.
Help H/A!!

That's pretty much exactly what happened when (both of) the fans on mine crapped out. Can you hear them running? It really shouldn't be overheating if they are.
Before I took it in, I'd set a little desktop fan blowing over the case. Not that I recommend it over getting it fixed, but I played games like that for about a month.

I would not be surprised in the least if both my fans died. I would have thought the notebook fan would be sufficient, but you think another fan blowing on the back of the comp will suffice until I can get down to the Macstore?

The way I had it set up was right next to the laptop, blowing air directly over the keyboard area. I didn't really experiment much, so I can't vouch for any other system. Just think keeping the case cool; the whole thing is basically one big heatsink.
You could probably get away with something a bit less intrusive, but it is only temporary.
I know the Best Buy is closer, but Jesus, whatever you do, don't take it to Geek Squad if you want it back in one piece.
Yeah, I'm going to try Adrien's advice, then take it to the Mac store as soon as I can.

Don’t take a Macbook Pro to a third-part service place unless you absolutely have to. Those laptops are held together with industrial glue in a lot of places, and the interior fits together like the puzzle box in Hellraiser. It’s a lot easier to screw up a MacBook than a PC laptop. You’re better off letting Apple have it—they’ll probably just swap the hard disk into a replacement.
