So doggs... when did you first discover the internet?
When I was a kid back in the ancient days of 1992, we got a glorious service called PRODIGY, back in the olden days of BBS
It had this awesome game called MAD MAZE (IE ONLY, sux)
http://pages.prodigy.net/rdbrownmsb/MadMaze2/
I used to post on bulletin boards back in the olden days with my friends. We were old school forumers 15 years ago. Me and my grandpa would email back and forth. I miss him. He was a cool dude. He may have been almost 70 years old, but he was a gigantic nerd and always had the newest computers and the newest internet stuff. Whenever I'd go to his house when I was little I'd sit in his lap and we'd play old school video games.
He gave me my first ever computer game: SIM CITY
It used to be about a monthly fright as I'd think I'd lost that precious red page... only to discover it again in some corner where I'd put it.

Been using a Mac that long.
Man, I had a numbername and everything. The first messageboard I posted on was a messageboard for Pokemon. Man those are some memories.
Carmen Sandiego site and see what games I could play
I remember a moment fondly
My dad took me in and said LOOK AT THIS
ON THE INTERNET THEY CAN SEND PICTURES NOW, IT'S THIS THING CALLED JPEG
CHECK THIS OUT
Then he downloaded an amazingly lo-res and lo-quality picture of a kangaroo

my very first internets account, circa 1993, maybe? 1994, perhaps
I bet it seemed awesome to you.
:winky:
he told me to smile at the computer monitor
and then he was all "oh! here comes your picture"
and he loaded up a picture of a monkey on the screen
Dang old orestes
This was when images were first being able to be sent by average users
DANG OLD NEGATIVE ORESTES ALL PRETENTIOUS AND SASSY
Anyway Orestes when this was happening you were maybe a one year old or something
Oh man. Yeah.. when I first started really using the internet was around 98 I think. I went to.. pojo.com to look up pokemon information all the time. And then around 2000 I started playing Mechwarrior 3 hardcore on MSN gaming zone back when that was still around. It was so great. The community for that game was fantastic.
Also Quake II... all back on dial-up..
hahahhaa your dad is awesome
your dad is awesome
I used to speak with Victor Ireland on the Working Designs/Lunar boards at alt.rec.games (or something).
These were orange-on-black days.
That back in the day was a sign of rep.
Satans..... hints.....
anyone remember Empire? that game was awesome
Two, actually.
I was busy playing NES.
who here used to play games with their dad
there were times where we would be up until 3 Am working on "POOPVILLE" in Sim City
lots of seaquest and river raid
Weird paradox: parents will let me play computer games for hours a day but are afraid that I will play "too much" if I get an NES
I had to go next door
my dad was fucking rapesauce at Space Merchant, an old browser-based game
I could hardly muster myself up a good ship and he had whole solar systems
like a strange, creepy uncle that's always been there, trying to get you alone in a dark place
then they started making them in tiny boxes and I thought "well that makes a lot more sense actually"
Man, I would game with my dad so much.
We would play Super Mario after school everyday on our SNES.
After the N64 was released and FPS games came around, he kinda lost interest.
I feel bad for not gaming with him anymore.
I bet he had that happen to him like 5 minutes before he decided to try it on you
i still miss those boxes
fun fact: i still have my deus ex box
t one fiddy: my dad got me into monkey island games and text adventures, and i am so glad he did
so glad
5 CDS
THIS GAME IS EPIC
and huge old box
That game's roller coaster thing was rad
I used to go from island to island just to go on those things over and over again
He got me hooked on Doom.
riven? dang, son
i remember begging my dad to buy Myst for $20
i finished it by myself, and that was the last time i ever played it
i still have it somewhere, next to 'the lost treasures of infocom'
I still remember that fucking rocketship keyboard puzzle.
And man, Riven blew my fucking mind. Even today the game looks so good.
THAT FUCKING ROCKETSHIP KEYBOARD PUZZLE
Also I really loved Command And Conquer, though I sucked greasy anus balls at it.
it had indiana jones and the temple of atlantis, day of the tentacle, dark forces 2, x-wing, and TIE fighter
what I would not give to buy that set again
and it was actually just my dad and his work buddies playing Marathon in our livingroom
good times as [Insert Name Here]
Proud indeed!
