Battlefield 2142 - patch help

Well today I bought a copy of battlefield 2142 and I've spent the whole day trying to get the game to work online to no avail. I’m patched up to v1.25 and every time I try to download the v1.4 patch it keeps saying that I all ready have a more up to date version. I tried every patch I can find even earlier ones and nothing is working. So can anyone shed some light on this mystery?

P.S. - If anyone knows how to get the EA download manager to work that would be helpful as well.

I believe Patch 1.4 is considered still a beta patch so when it says 1.25 is current it is correct.

Also watch out when playing for a bug where you won't rank up regardless of how many points you've earned. My character is stuck at 180/120 points for the next rank. Still haven't figured that one out.

i soo gave up that game awhile ago. it was awesome... when it worked. there are so many network tweeks needed, as well as a well documented crash if you use the wrong sound drivers.

I'm a bit concerned if I'm all up to date because there’s no servers up D:

EDIT: Also It keeps saying there is a more up to date patch when I join online

I won't be buying anything else from the Battlefield franchise unless EA relinquishes control over it. I keep getting BSOD's from BF2, and it's a known issue. I can play for roughly 20 minutes and then it just crashes my whole computer.

The game apparently has issues with dual core processors as well as SLI'd Nvidia systems. They know how to fix it, yet haven't released a patch since mid-2006. To make matters worse, the game worked FINE until they started patching it. Patching shouldn't break games.

The whole series is dead to me.

Thats it. Dont bother patching to 1.4 yet as its currently in beta and there are hardly any servers running it. If you have done so, you'll have to reinstall it and patch to 1.25 to get the version most people are playing, cowboy. Trust me though its worth it, I dont think I've ever poured as much time into a game as 2142.

and about the ranks, that just happens every so often apparently. If you wait a day or so then go on it again you should rank up after getting a few kills.

The only reason I tried to download the new patch was because after I downloaded the 1.25 patch it was telling me I was still out of date on the patch front. I can't play the game at all online because all the servers are on different versions from the one I'm running. Apparently.

So I guess really my problem is that I am running v1.25 but it's not working.
