I'll be your friend if you tell me how to fix my wireless card. [SOLVED]
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad. It used to connect to any and all wireless networks just fine. I don't remember changing anything. However, when I search for wireless networks through the proprietary software, I get a short (maybe .5 second) message of 'static', then it says no network found. This happens in places where I KNOW there is wireless connectivity. I'm almost positive that a few months back when the wireless was working, it took at least 2-3 seconds to search even if it turned up no results.
When I check my device manager, it says "Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection", and then "this device is working properly" and says the drivers are updated. Wireless radios are powered on.
So if everything is working fine why is everything not working fine? :< I had a wired connection a long time ago, but anything I altered in that should (AFAIK) not apply to my wireless. Why does it seem that my laptop won't even try to search?
Can you connect to networks by manually entering their connection information, or is the whole deal not working? If you only get 'static' maybe the antenna is broken. If you can connect to networks manually but not search for them, it's probably a driver problem/the software sucks.
Try uninstalling it, then reinstalling it with the latest drivers, and reinstalling the software you use with it. Also maybe try using it to search for a network with your OS's built in search thingie.
